Advantages: Different from the first two

Disadvantages: Not the best of the saga

After the suspense/horror of the first movie, the action of the second, there needed to be something different for this movie to work, and in my opinion, it did.
Riply and co crash land on a prison planet, which has no guns, no nothing, offensive weapons are a big no no. Quickly recovered from the crash site, we find that a number of the crew have died (which seemed like a quick way out to me for the story) and all the tell tale signs of an Alien attack. Soon prisoners start being killed off one by one, and its either them or the Alien who is going to survive.
Dark and gloomy, this David Fincher movie works so well because it is sooo different from the others, and although less exiting than Aliens it is certainly an enjoyable movie to spend evening watching.
The picture is sharp and clear, with little or no grain and is good in the detail levels dept. Unfortunatley the DD5.1 soundtrack as with the first two, still leaves a lot to be desired.
