... even to this day where people had disposed of them in this way) Ramon finds food and survives. In fact, the food he finds are the hormonally treated corpses of animals from an animal testing laboratory and the hormones cause him to grow big - bigger than a car in fact and eventually he goes on the rampage, breaking out of the sewer and hunting out new food - human food. David Madison(Robert Foster) plays a homicide detective whose task it is(along with the rest of the B-Movie cast) to track down this beast and preven...more

Premium Review Alligator (DVD): Snappy Title For An Alligator Movie? Hehehee (620 words)
by - written on 29/09/01 (Very useful, 112 readings)
Rating:

If you saw Lake Placid and though the idea of a killer alligator was a new one, then think again. Alligator from the pen of John Sayle came some years earlier, and whilst not being the greatest horror movie out there, is infinitely superior to this mediocre modern comedy shocker. Tongue in cheek horror abounds here as a mutant alligator goes on the rampage throughout the streets of Chicago. Some years previously a little girl was bought a pet alligator as a present - it was a yuppie fad in the US to do so, and as with many others, Ramon ends up being flushed down the toilet. People seemed to have this strange idea that baby alligators didn't grow up into ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A film with a bite? (151 words)

Many years since I first saw this film, I returned to it when i picked it up at an esp low price (£2.99!!) I thought I would revisit for old time sake. The story is that an Alligator is thrown down a loo and lands in the sewers. Meanwhile a chemical company is dumping waste and dead experiments in its sewer drain. The Alligator eats these dead creatures and mutates into a 100ft long beast. What follows is a sought of Jaws on land (even with the same ending!!!! The sound is basic DD1.0 and does its job and the same applies to the picture (it is 4:3, not its original ratio, i don't believe). Hardly original in any respect, but is fun non the less, and if you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Alligator (DVD): Alligator (215 words)

Rating:

OK - so I am a fan of horror films and will tend to watch almost any horror film available. This is a schlock horror film that was part of the genre churned out in the early '80s. The basic story involves cute all-American girl who drops her pet alligator down the toilet and flushes it away. Meanwhile, nasty chemical firm is dumping toxis waste into the sewers. Pet alligator feeds on anything it can get its teeth into in the sewers and because of the toxins end up being a 100 ft long monster. Alligator escapes from sewers, terrorises city so a big game hunter is bought in to kill alligator - and the rest is history. I apologise for the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Snap! (193 words)
by - written on 23/11/00 (Useful, 28 readings)
Rating:

Slightly bettered by Steve Miner's more recent big alligator movie 'Lake Placid', this Corman-produced monster mash is still worth watching if you can track it down. The best of the late seventies exploitation movies that Corman came up with were written by John Sayles and directed by Joe Dante ('Piranha', 'The Howling'). Sadly, arch-satirist Dante didn't do this one, and so it's handled with slightly less finesse. Nevertheless, a pair of outstanding performances make it work well - Robert Forster is great as the smart, harassed cop hero, and Henry Silva magnificent as a bonkers big game hunter following the trail of alligator ...  Read the complete review
