Disadvantages: 15?

This is a as seductive as anything I have seen this year and encapsulates what youth is all about as we live for a rock heroes. Equally seductive is the gorgeous Kate Hudson, daughter of the ageless Goldie Hawn who plays the early seventies rock chic come muse who inspired the guys to party hard, she would even get on her knees to inspire if that what it takes.

The film is class from the opening credits that are thoughtful and original as this excellent ensemble piece of peace, love and rock n Roll in groovy California.
It centered around a young kid who’s bought up by his unconventional but well meaning widowed mum who hasn’tquite got to grips with the seventies long hair thing.
Her daughter bales on mum on her 18 birthday to be a stewardess whilst leaving little brother with her prized record collection.

The young one grows up with dreams of being a music journalist, getting the chance sooner than he ever thinks. But he can’t see to much of the action as his protective mum still has a “family whistle”if he strays to far.

Whilst writing for the school mag at the age of 15 he hooks up with a legendary rock jouno who teaches him the ropes.
Cool phrases like “If you ever get lonely kid, seek out your friends in the record store”..Or advice when dealing with jealous wannabes”Meet them again on the wrong journey to the middle”.

This can turn a young impressionable kids head and results in him bragging his way into a gig by a struggling rock band called Still Waters who are supporting Sabbath who he was supposed to report on for his mentor.
He then befriends some groupies and the band, which results, on his work being printed and picked up by Rolling Stone magazine.

He’s offered $1000 (they think he’s older you see) to cover the tour which gets longer and longer as he is seduced by the rock n roll life style at the sweet and innocent a
ge of 15.
From then on it’s a tale of coming of age and morals as the gang of young teen fans and groupies follow the band across seventies America.

It’s a wonderful character study of the rock and roll lifestyle put to music by cool soundtrack as the youngsters bond on a journey of discovery in the bubble that is being a rock star.
You get 118 minutes of great camera angles from director Cameron Crowe of Jerry McGuire fame as he teases us with his brilliant talent. Lots of Spinal Tap moments and one or two really good belly laughs.

The humor is gentle and sweet on the eye with young Patrick Fugit, the young reporter in a great performance as the starry eyed gauche kid learning life fast. Kate Hudson (Penny Lane) is good to as the sexy tease who beds the boys from band to band.
The permissive nature of the film somehow endears you to it as the kids escape the real world through rock n roll and good times on the road.
O obviously the kid is underage and everyone should notice. But this is one of those movies where you are hear to watch and not learn as the brain can relax.

I loved the soundtrack as im into all that and the attention to detail and close up that gives the film its real guts. It allows you to recall that brief time when you were free of responsibility and worry when the world was there to be discovered and not feared.
The total freedom that comes across through the flick is perhaps the most refreshing part that seduces you most.
It’s a tale of a band who are “Almost famous”and really would prefer to just chill out and make friends rather than take it seriously and become Aerosmith MTV fodder. Or like their manger says”Do you think Mick Jagger really wants to be up their shaking his thing at 55!”.

It’s a chocolate tasting movie that requires little thought and a lot of relaxing. Its eye candy class and you will love every chord soothing, summer br
eeze blowing through your hair minute of this sumptuous film. If you have ever been in love with your music then watch this two hour treat.
