I totally love this film it is one of my favorites and I have watched it loads of times and never got bored with it. This film was released in June 2008.
The genre is romantic comedy. It is one of the few films that make me laugh out loud throughout it. I happen to love the two main actors (Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston) so that probably helps but a lot of the scenes are really good and the storyline is good as well.
So what's the film about...? The film is the story of a couple who get married and whilst on the honeymoon the bride runs off with the local scuba diving teacher. Ruben Feffer who is the main character played by Ben Stiller is a man who likes to plan his life out to the very last detail and this completely ruins his life plan and turns his life upside down!.
He goes back home and has a chance meeting with a old school friend (Polly) who he falls in love with, she runs her life in the completely opposite way to how he runs his, she plans nothing and changes her mind all the time. The story is basically about him trying to work out what he should do with his life and how he can make a relationship with Polly work out.
Why I love it!
The film is quite short it lasts just less than an hour and a half but there are no boring bits at all it keeps you hooked right from the start. It is so funny but the storyline is good as well so it's not like some other comedy films which are funny but there are no real story lines, you end up loving both the main characters and just willing them to get together.
I can't think of any bad points to this film at all it is just brilliant!
Definitely a film to watch in my opinion.
- Story -
Reuben Feffer is distraught after his wife is found cheating on him on their honeymoon and so he heads back home to attempt to start over again. When he's out one night with one of his best friends, he runs into an old friend from school, by the name of Polly Prince and he finds himself quite attracted to her, so he asks her out on a date. However, Reuben works in the insurance business and is careful to plan out almost everything he does in life, to minimise risks wherever possible, whereas Polly is alot more adventurous and rebellious - surely they can't be compatible, can they?.
- Thoughts & Opinions -
Most of what I said in my 'Meet The Fockers' review applies here too. This is another movie where Ben Stiller plays the bumbling fool, a regular (if not rather boring) guy just wanting to get things right that keeps having to try and manage daft situations he ends up in, often badly, with some consequences that are, to me, fairly amusing. If your familiar with movies such as There's Something About Mary and the Meet The Parents movies then you'll have a rough idea what to expect as far as the comedy is concerned and the types of characters present (a regular if not boring guy and the rebellious, zany gal). I didn't feel that either of the two main cast members, Stiller or Aniston, were particularly great in their roles, neither did they break any new ground here, its basically what I'd call a 'safe bet' - the cast names attracting the audience more than anything else, I reckon.
The story is alright and there are a few scenes that made me cringe, one involving a leaking toilet being the main one to spring to mind - I'd imagine teenage boys would find that quite funny, though I can't say I laughed out loud at any point in this movie as such, it made me smile once or twice and others may find it funnier than me. It probably is intended for a younger audience, it has a 12 rating and so I reckon teenagers and young adults may enjoy this, depending on what your sense of humour is but I feel that really its nothing special - I can't think of much to say about it really, its another of these sorts of movies for Stiller, a real 'safe bet' type movie for him that doesn't offer alot to the audience.
By way of comparison, another movie that didn't star Stiller but that came to mind as being similar comedy wise and suchlike is 50 First Dates, so young-ish fans of that movie may enjoy this too but overall I'd say that there are better, funnier movies starring Ben Stiller, that are around. I would go into a bit more detail if it were necessary but to be totally honest, it'd probably end up seeming like alot of padding and I can't think of whats worth mentioning. I suppose in its favour I did catch it on TV and also it isn't one of those mind numbing movies with a long winding story that goes on and on for over two hours and ends up with an ending that confuses or doesn't answer anything (I hate those), its pretty short at 1 hour 30 minutes and there are a few scenes that may make you laugh - it isn't really boring as such, its just very run of the mill and I feel that he's starred in/made better movies overall, so I'd overlook this one, personally. I think some people may find it amusing and I didn't find myself feeling so bored I wanted to channel hop, so it could be worse, hence I'm giving it a 3 star rating overall but, as below, I wouldn't specifically recommend it.
- Would I Recommend It? -
This is slap bang in the 'ok - worth a quick watch if there's nothing else on TV' type category but no more and no less. If your looking for something to really make you laugh, I wouldn't overly recommend it as I know there are funnier movies starring Ben Stiller, so I don't recommend it. I wouldn't say it isn't at all amusing, its just not worth recommending over other titles, in my personal opinion.
Thanks for all rates and comments, I hope you found this review useful.
Reuben Feffer is wary of everything and even has a job analysing risk. The one risk he does take is getting married. It turns out to be a bad decision when his wife cheats on him during their honeymoon. Back in New York Reuben bumps into an old school friend Polly. Polly lives her life to the full in a way that would normally make Reuben anxious, but there is something about her free spirit and go for it nature that catches his attention and leaves him wanting more.
Ben Stiller and Jennifer Anniston have great chemisty as Reuben and Polly and really bounce off each other. I've seen Jennifer Aniston in a lot of things but haven't liked her this much in anything since Friends. There are few supporting characters, these include Reuben's friend, Sandy Lyle (Philip Seymour Hoffman), who gives awful advice, and Reuben's ex played by Debra Messing.
I bought this dvd on a whim a few years back as it was only £2 in Asda at the time. I think it's a really sweet film, but don't get the idea that it's a chick flick just because I've said this. There are several laugh out loud dirty man moments such as the effects of Reuben eating Mexican food when he's got IBS, and his friend sharting at an art gallery. There are also some great moments when they go salsa dancing, but the absolute show stealer for me is Polly's adorable blind pet ferret. I'd recommend watching it.
There is a very eclectic mix of music in the film from Andrew Lloyd Webber to Will I Am and Bob Marley. There's also a lot of Spanish music from the salsa scenes, and even some Beethoven thrown in there.

Along Came Polly stars Ben Stiller as Reuben Feffer and Jennifer Aniston as Polly. At the start of the film Reuben is on honeymoon with his new wife and things seem great between them until he finds her having sex with her scuba instrutor. Lisa his wife decides she is staying on the island with the scuba instructor and so Reuben returns home to New York. Reuben works as a risk assessor for an insurance company and so doesn't like to take any risks in his life but things change when he meets up with Polly again. He knows Polly from school and after arranging to meet up with her he soon realises that she is going to challenge his risk taking as she gets him into eating spicy food which he hates, dancing and lots of other fun activities. Reuben completely falls for Polly and Polly starts to feel the same but then Lisa arrives back on the scene wanting to make her marriage work. Will Reuben choose to stay with Lisa who is less risky or risk it all for Polly.
This film is really funny and the acting is great. Ben Stiller as always delivers his comedy lines brilliantly and both him and Jennifer Aniston are totally believable and really suit their roles.
Reuben is so funny when he tries to hide his disgust at some of the things happy hippy Polly does. They are totally opposite characters as Reuben plans every last detail and Polly can't seem to plan anything.
This is a very sweet romantic film but I don't think it is too girly as it is a really good comedy and Ben Stiller makes it so much fun that I think it will appeal to both men and women. It is a great story that is original and different.
It is a nice easy to watch relaxing film and you don't have to concentrate too hard on the story to know what is happening. I would definately recommend it.
I seem to be one of the rare few people who really couldn't stand this film. There were of course the positive points: Some terrific acting in the form of Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston. But for me, the plot definitely needs some polishing off. It was really too stilted at times and there were also some elements/characters introduced that seemed to take the story nowhere. I am someone who cannot stand these 'unnecessary' additions to a story and I think that a good film, in my opinion, is one that introduces only the plots/characters that lead the movie somewhere. Sadly, I very disappointed by this movie because of this.
Reuben analyzes risks for a living, and therefore lives a completely risk-free life. He gets married to Lisa and they set off for their honeymoon on St Bart. But when Reuben catches her having sex with their scruba instructor, their very short-lived wedding is off. One night, he meets his former school friend, Polly and they start dating. Thing is, Polly is not at all interested in a long-term relationship...moreover, she is constantly taking all sorts of 'risks' that Reuben always tries to avoid.
Like I said, both Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston delivered really great performances. There was however, very little on-screen chemistry between them and I was even more disappointed by how they didn't seem to connect to each other and it was therefore quite a weak depiction of a couple. However, I think that the fact that both of them are highly talented actors managed to save their roles. They didn't share any on-screen chemistry but they certainly had strong screen presences and nearly flawless line deliveries. I am used to seeing Ben Stiller in such roles, but seeing Jennifer Aniston in the role of Polly was quite a different-albeit enjoyable experience. I think that this goes on to show that she can very aptly handle any given role.
Also, I really didn't like the addition of Phillip Seymour Hoffman to the cast. While I think that he's quite a good actor, plot-wise, he really didn't seem to contribute much to the story. I also got the impression that he was there just to make the plot advance and if you have to look at the whole plot in general, he certainly doesn't contribute anything to it. I have no idea why they included his character and he certainly gave a decent performance but the producer's weak attempts to include this actor for comic (call it gross) purposes put me off the film a bit. The same goes for a lot of subplots and minor storylines that were obviously there as unnecessary padding. I do believe that I would have liked the film a lot more if the irrelevant details had been omitted.
Ben Stiller as Reuben
Jennifer Aniston as Pollu
Philip Seymour Hoffman as Sandy
Debra Messing as Lisa
Alec Baldwin as Stan
Hank Azaria as Claude
Bryan Brown as Leland
The Extras could certainly use some padding to them! Moreover, the only two extras that were included on my DVD were extremely weak and there was absolutely nothing interesting or even mildly entertaining about them.
Overall, you might like this film better than me. It's not such a bad film but there are some points that really put me off. The acting was great but the plot was extremely weak, predicable and highly padded. Not one for me, not really recommended.
~Thanks for reading~
Along Came Polly
Film Duration: 90 minutes
Director: John Hamburg
Country: United States
Rating: All Ages
Ben Stiller as Reuben Feffer
Jennifer Aniston as Polly Prince
Philip Seymour Hoffman as Sandy Lyle
Debra Messing as Lisa Kramer
The story is about Reuben Feffer who works in the insurance world, where his task is to estimate risks. He lives his own life without taking any unnecessary risk. It looks like he got a good life though and just got married to his beautifull wife Lisa Kramer and they are on their honeymoon. Only here his wife meets a diving instructor and while Reuben decided on to dive, his wife decided to go diving alone, only not in the sea but in bed! Reuben quickly finds out and the marriage is soon over. Once he got home he tries to pick up is his life and meets old classmate Polly.
Polly lives a very different life than Reuben and just doesn't think about the consequences. Reuben decides to ask Polly out, but the date goes far from perfect and it really doesn't seem to click between them. Only when Polly hears about his ex wife and what happened, she feels sorry and decides to help him getting over Lisa, only this is not as easy as she thought it would be!
There are some famous actors in this movie. You have Ben Stiller who plays the role of Reuben Feffer. Reuben is a man who takes no risks and really wants to know things in advance. Spontaneity certainly doesn't belong to him. Ben Stiller plays again excellent and highly credible with his facial expressions and timing. He plays very well and is very fun to watch. Another actor who is good, Jennifer Anistion. She plays the role of Polly, a woman who's really chaotic and doesn't think of the consequences. She helps Reuben to loosen up and to get over Lisa. She's also credible and clicks very well with Ben Stiller. You notice a certain chemistry between both of which certainly helps with the help. Very well done and fun.
There are a few extras including bloopers from the movie. These are nice to watch them just after the movie. Furthermore, there are deleted scenes, which is clear is why they didn't make the film. Nice amount of extra's, but could have done with a little bit more.
A comedy movie with Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston can hardly go wrong for me and that is the case here. Both fit well together and have a certain chemistry what just works. The story is fun and develops well. The story is carried well by the actors with their good timing, which makes the scenes very funny to watch. Here and there you will certainly laugh and the movie is just very amusing to see. The extras are nice, but a reasonable amount. Definitely worth the film!
I watched Along came Polly a few years back as a big fan of Ben Stiller's work and really enjoyed it. Jennifer Aniston has appeared in her fair share of romantic comedies as well over the years and is also in this one. I thought it was very entertaining and good fun to watch. If I was to think about Ben Stiller's films then this wouldn't be too far away from There's Something about Mary which was hilarious.
So, on to the plot which revolves around Ruben played by Ben Stiller himself. His job is a risk analyzer for an insurance company and this entails him looking at his clients on his books and assessing whether their lifestyle's are too risky to be insured by his company. As obviously, the more risky their life the more uninsurable they become. Because they are more likely to have an accident and then the insurance company loses money. This job naturally rubs off on him in his actual life and he is very cautious and won't take risks of any kind.
At the start of the movie we see he has married Lisa and are about to start their happy life together commencing with their honeymoon on a beautiful Island. However, while on Honeymoon she gets together with the scuba instructor and Ruben leaves her. Not a great start to married life!
It is while he is reassessing his life and what he will do that he meets Polly who is an old classmate of his. She is completely different to him though in the fact that she leads a very wild and carefree life not tied to any constraints.
Therefore, Ruben has a choice to make and this is where the fun begins. He can either change for Polly and lead a more exciting unpredictable existence which goes against his whole make up, or go back to being boring and predictable and go back to his ex-wife and try to make amends. So for me the meaning of the movie was really whether you should take that leap of faith in life and go out on a limb for what you want. So basically should you jump with your heart or head?
I thought the movie itself was hilarious and both Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston are fantastic in different ways and work well as a team. There are some very funny scenes as Polly tries to get Ruben to come out of himself but of course out of his comfort zone where he's been for some time and into situations that put him at unease. Unlike some movies, the jokes are original and funny and you don't get bored at all.
Well worth watching if you are a fan of Ben Stiller or even if you're not as I'm sure you will really enjoy it.
Along Came Polly is the 2004 American romantic comedy written and directed by John Hamburg. The film is starring Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston in the lead roles.
Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller) is heartbroken when he catches his wife having sex on their honeymoon with their French scuba diving instructor. Reuben is an insurance underwriter who's job require him to asses risk and in life he always plays in safe. His friend and former teen star actor Sandy (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) persuades Reuben to go to an an art gallery. At the gallery he meets the unusual Polly (Jennifer Aniston) who was his former classmate. These two totally different characters decide to get together in what results into a relationship roller coaster which makes for some comedy moments.
This a very heart warming well written comedy with good casting. Ben Stiller is convincing as the safe player and Jennifer Aniston is perfect as the total opposite to Ben Stiller's character. They are the oddest couple and are so differnt but but that is what makes it work. Both these actors work well together and have a natural chemistry which makes for a believable film. This film is jam packed with side bursting laughs and is a big heavy weight hitter amongst romantic comedies.
Ben Stiller plays Reuben Feffer, a risk assessment manager who is engaged to Lisa Kramer (Debra Messing.) They get married and go on their honeymoon and all is well until Lisa meets their scuba diving instructor, Claude (Hank Azaria), and Reuben walks in on them in bed. He leaves disgusted and she apologies and stays there with him. Back at home, he mopes as he moves into the house he bought for them and spends time with his incredibly irritating but funny friend Sandy (Philip Seymour Hoffman.) At a party, he bumps into an old school friend Polly Prince played by Jennifer Anniston. She's a commitmentphobe who changes her mind every minute. They end up going on a few dates and things start to progress between them but suddenly, his ex, Lisa turns up and asks for him back. Reuben says no but is tempted. What will he do?
The film is packed with great actors from Ben Stiller to Debra Messing who I think is really great. I've seen Stiller in lots of films and loved him in most, he's such a gent. Jennifer Anniston plays such a cute character in this film, I think she did well in this film.
There are some really entertaining bits in the movie, I.E when Reuben and Sandy are playing basketball with some other men and one jumps to shoot smacking his hairy sweaty stomach off Reubens face. Or the most entertaining line of the movie for me "i did a fart and a little sh*t came out, I sharted. ". It's a light hearted movie that's a little bit unbelievable but is funny all the same. I mean, if I cheated on my partner on our honeymoon, I wouldn't have the guts to show my face but she comes back asking for a second chance! The cheek!
The plot is really smart and I like Reubens unusual job as well. It's a good film and I'd certainly recommend it to others to see. I've watched it a fair few times, it's always on itv1 or 2 or you can buy it cheaply on DVD on ebay for about £1.99. It's definitely worth it!
Along came polly tells the heartwarming entertaining love story between two total opposites the risk averse Reuban Feffer (Ben Stiller) and the risk taking Polly Prince (Jennifer Anisten). Reuben marries at the begining of hte film to find his wife cheats on him with the scuba instructor whilst on their honeymoon. Reuben then returns home to get his life back on track to then find an old classmate instantly feeling a connection to her he invites her on a date which she accepts and after a selection of humourous twists and turns throughout the night the date seems to go ok despite some toilet related gags. As their relationships continues to progress the gags continues entertaining the viewer greatly. the film ends with Reuban stopping polly from leaving again and they go on holiday together having swapped personalities it would seem as polly becomes more willing to classify them as a relationship while reuban calms down. this is a heartwarming comedy in which there are a number of cheap gags which entertain the viewer immensly and a happy ending which everyone loves.
note: also appears on Flixster and The Student Room
Along Came Polly revolves around Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller), an insurance analyst whose job is to assess risk in various activites, such as bungie jumping etc. He gets married to Lisa Kramer (Debra Messing) at the start of the film, but soon enough finds her in the middle of an affair with a man she meets on their honeymoon (Hank Azaria). Reuben is destroyed, and one night, after having his arm twisted by his friend, Sandy (Phillip Seymour Hoffman, in a very odd supporting role), goes to an art gallery with him, where he meets Polly Prince (Jennifer Aniston), a former classmate who he always had a crush on but never had the guts to ask out. She's single, and so despite being a baffoon, he tries to woo her.
The film works well in this regard, depicting a slow but sure romance, but the problem is that the crude jokes - including fecal matter and irritable bowel syndrome - just aren't very funny, yet are strangely relentless in how often they are thrown at the viewer. This distracts somewhat from what is otherwise quite a fun romantic film.
Not a bad film, but not outstanding in any respect, Along Came Polly has a good cast that generally have good chemistry, but from one of the people who wrote Meet the Parents, you might expect something a little more cutting and intelligent than the frequently crude jokes we get here. This is not Stiller's best effort by any means, and its large reliance on toilet humour becomes stale very quickly, but it's fine for a harmless enough, brainless viewing after you've had a tough day.
Along Came Polly...
This film was released in June 2008, personally it is one of my favourites. I can watch it over and over again I find it that good. I would say the genre is a romance but it is comical at times! Even though it has been out for a while do not let it pass you it is a great film.. Here is why...
The Film Itself...
This film is about a newly married couple who go on their honeymoon and the bride dumps him for a muscle bound local scuba instructor! Ben Stiller who plays the husband Reuben Feffer is completely thrown off track and does not know which way to turn for the best. His house that has only just been brought ends up for sale again and he finds a chance with a childhood friend, Polly who is played by Jennifer Aniston and gets him into crazy sports, ferrets and salsa dancing! It is a complete change for him and it is now your turn to find out whether he can cope!!
Reasons to love it!
This film only lasts 1 hour and 26 minutes and keeps you entertained the whole way through, its lively and comical and suits all ages above 12 years old. This is due to the bbfc rating. But whether you let your children watch is totally up to you! It even includes deleted scenes which are always good to watch, out-takes and other various bonus features! It can also be found for a low price around 3£ which is an absolute bargain for a DVD.
This may not be your type of film and it does have moderate sex references which tend not to be practical with small children. I cannot thing of any more bad points. It is a great film!
I like this film because it really cheers me up when I am down. I find it funny and sad at times but the characters play brilliant roles and I can really relate to it!
Film review only
I am a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston - whilst that might make the review slightly biased I would also like to say that this film is actually a very good romantic comedy regardless!
Jennifer Aniston is Polly and she bumps into her old school friend Reuben (Ben Stiller) at a function one night. Reuben has just come back from his honeymoon where his wife ran off with the scuba instructor so he's a little down. He always plans his life down to the finest detail - he's a risk assessor so he knows what to do and what not to. Polly could not be any further from his idea of a risk free girlfriend - she even eats peanuts on the bar for goodness sakes! But Reuben wonders whether dating someone different for a change might be good for him - all his well thought out relationships have fallen around his ears every time. But something tells you that this relationship is going to have a few ups and downs!
Ben Stiller of course is pretty much genius in any comedy and this is no exception. As the organised yet bumbling Reuben he's great as he tries to overcome his fears and doubts about Polly. There are so many scenes that will make you laugh out loud - even though his character is doing pretty normal things, they're not normal for Reuben and he gets himself into all sorts of situations! Ben Stiller is great at playing the quirky guy and some of the stupid things he says and does here do make you laigh out loud. However, I will say that Ben has played this role time and time again - it's a very similar role to Meet The Parents in fact. Come on Ben, do something different!
Jennifer Aniston is queen of the romcom and there is great chemistry between her and Stiller here. Jennifer is very likeable as an actress and I think that comes across in every role she plays. It's quite an original take on the romantic comedy - sure you have the usual boy meets girl, overcomes obstacles and fall in love scenario but there's a lot of quirky comedy here that makes it quite different. Instead of the girl next door Jennifer actually plays Polly as a bit of an outcast, a bit of a boho chic character who is quite flippant about everything.
The support is great too - Phillip Seymour Hoffman (pre Oscar) plays Reuben's best friend and is a hilarious yet shameful quirky character. He was famous once upon a time and is still trying to ride on this one role he had 20 years ago as a child - wonderfully weird and played as only Hoffman could play him. Debra Messing is Reuben's adulteress wife - I am not a huge fan of Debra but she played this role adequately. I think they could have found someone better though.
All in all this is a great film - with bags of romance, bags of comedy and lots of scenes with the adorable co star who I haven't mentioned yet - Rodolfo the ferret! There's lot of different humour here so there should be something for everyone and to be honest the comedy is much more the focal point than the actual romance so it shouldn't put any of the men off either. Definitely worth a look.
Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller) thinks he has it all...he has found the love of his life in Lisa Kramer (Debra Messing) who he just married and he has a job as a risk analyst for a large insurance company but while on his honeymoon Reuben finds his new wife getting intimate with her scuba instructor Claude (Hank Azaria). Reuben decides to head home to try to straighten his life back out and it is when he returns that he and his best friend Sandy Lyle (Philip Seymour Hoffman) head on a night out and Reuben bumps into his old school friend Polly Prince (Jennifer Aniston). With Polly out to enjoy life and not looking to settle down and Reuben looking to settle down and have a stable lifestyle they both have decisions to make as the two get close...when Lisa returns desperate to make things work with Reuben will the risk analyst take a risk on his cheating wife or take a risk on finding love with Polly?
This was a film which I has heard a lot of good things about and so picked up on dvd and put on a shelf for months...when I finally watched it I had to wonder why I had left it so long as this film is fantastic. The cast is brilliant and each one suits their role perfectly. The plot is well worked and manages to give you different emotions throughout as this style of film should. The movie manages to deliver a variety of different feels with comedy and romance mixed well to create a feel good film that asks many questions and in the end answers them without being drawn out or too obvious. I simply love this movie and would have to recommend that it is well worth a watch for all those who love romantic comedies (which I think we all do at some point).
Along Came Polly has to be one of my favourite romantic comedy films it is just brilliant! The film was originally released in February 2004 and so has been out for a good while now. It has won one award out of the eight it had been nominated for which is impressive. The tagline for the film is "For the most cautious man on Earth, life is about to get interesting." This could not be more appropriate and when you read about what the film is about you will soon find out.
The film stars the two incredible actors Ben Stiller who plays Reuben Feffer and also Jennifer Aniston who plays Polly Prince. The movies is about a man named Reuben Feffer who at first thinks he is in love, however he finds his wife in bed with the scuba instructor on their honeymoon before the wedding. In an attempt to get over this he flies back home and tries to forget all that has happened. He spends a night out with one of his friends at a party and bumps into old school friend, Polly Prince. Throughout the whole movie we see their relationship blossom however, Reuban is a risk manager and he finds her lifestyle hard to take in!
I really thought that the story line was excellent and it has some excellent comic moments throughout the film. I would really recommend it to a family because I think it provides some excellent entertainment and for only £4 from Amazon it really is a great deal. I hope this was useful and thank you very much for reading this!
Opposites are forced to attract in Along Came Polly. Ben Stiller is a newlywed insurance risk-assessment analyst whose wife (Debra Messing, in a throwaway role) betrays him on their honeymoon. His uptight, play-it-safe lifestyle (which includes acute aversion to germs and irritable bowel syndrome) makes him seemingly incompatible with the spontaneous, free-spirited Polly (Jennifer Aniston), but writer-director John Hamburg (whose writing credits include the previous Stiller hits Meet the Parents and Zoolander) is determined to give them at least the appearance of romantic potential. No such luck. You will, however, get a few laughs from supporting players Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bryan Brown, and Alec Baldwin. The film is a dose of featherweight fluff that could've been better and could've been worse--surely no pairing of Stiller and Aniston can be a complete waste of time, right? Faint praise, perhaps, but fans of these mainstream funny-folk will enjoy this movie as a lazy weekend distraction. --Jeff Shannon
