Follow that storyline..if u can (American Beauty (DVD))

Advantages: Good cast, Good Acting, Soundtrack

Disadvantages: Poor Storyline, Boring

I was leant this dvd by a friend who had told me how good it was. Indeed there was plenty of hype around the film when it was released in the cinema, more when it arrived to the mini cinema, your TV. To be honest when a film receives this amount of hype watch out. Again I was proved right (unusual for a man I know).

There were a couple of stories going on, which were only linked because the characters were all in the same film, but that was about it.

You are left at the end of the film wondering what the hell has been going on and why have you spent an hour and a half watching the damn thing.

There is some weird photography and special effects, which are actually quite good, but a real disappointment in terms of action.

If there is any humour in this film it is so black and dark it was lost in the shadows (and I don't mean the lot that sang with Cliff Richard).

I was really disappointed because I give any film a chance and can normally be surprised. If you have the chance of watching American Beauty or going to the fifth day of an England v Australia test, which has finished on the third day (but thats another op) go to the cricket.

On the positive side ther are some good performances put in, but the cast are given no help by the rest of the film.

This is more American Trash, than American Beauty.
