Advantages: Great plot, great acting!

Disadvantages: A bit violent for some

A film all about Racism, the film stars Edward Norton as Derek and Edward Furlong, as Danny, Derek's younger brother. This has to be one of the best films I have seen Edward Norton play. He also starred in Fight Club, but for me he is even better in this.

The story is told through Danny and how he see's his brother. Derek has got a lot of respect through the neighbourhood, mind you he also has a lot of enemies. Derek has become the leader of some sort of racist gang, now in prison for murdering a black guy, Danny tells the story.

The film is full of action from start to finish, it shows you that there are still racist gangs in America, and at times what you see is very disturbing. We find out as the film gets going that the reason for Dereks beliefs, the reason he has turned out rascit are mainly because his father was rascist, and he was killed by a black person.

This resulted in Derek hating the society he lives in, he becomes full of anger and this is when he becomes the leader of a local white power movement. An intelligent man, yet when he is sent to prison for murder it changes him to a completely different person, surprising everyone who awaits his release.

When out of prison Derek is faced with getting out of the gang, whats more he's faced with convincing his younger brother that he made a mistake, and rascism is not the way forward. He tells Danny what happened when he was in prison, how he became friends with a black guy, and how he got in trouble with a white gang in there.

The film goes to black and white whenever it goes back to the past, which is better because it makes it easier to follow. Danny is faced with writing an assignment of how he sees the world and how his beliefs have been stemmed from his brother. He has to write about his brothers past.

Danny's views are changed in the film when he talks to his brother about the events of prison. The ending though comes as a bit of a surprise, a very sad ending. I'd definatly recommend this film because it keeps you watching throughout.

Summary: Entertaining throughout, worth buying
