This is a film only review of American Pie.

The first and definately the best of the series featuring the sex starved antics of a group of American teens, not exactly an original concept with other movies like Porkies and Animal House in this genre but this one does stand out as being one of the better movies with a decent number of laughs.

The basic plotline sees four friends in their last year of high school make a pact that they will all have sex on their prom night the only problem being that only one of them has a girlfriend and in that relationship she will not progress past oral sex.

The content of the movie is very sexually explicit and there are quite a few scenes involving nudity and strong language, Jason Briggs as the accident prone and luckless Jim is the one who steals the show and has most of the funny lines although the annoying Stifler also weighs in and as later movies progress becomes more prominent.

The four friends are very typical, there is the nerdy one, the sportsman, the popular one with a nice girlfriend and in Jim you have the most desperate and ill fated character. Some of the funniets scenes involve the interaction between Jim and his Dad as the two try to contact and his father attempts to talk openly to him about sex, the scene where he gets out pornographic magazines is just hilarious. In case you are about to eat dinner I will not give the reasons behind the films name but I will never be able to look at a Fray Bentos again.

Definately worth watching as it has its funny moments and is good entertainment if you are not looking for anything too heavy.
