Advantages: it will get you in hysterics, if you find this kind of thing amusing

Disadvantages: immature, and often too crude

American Pie isn't a comedy. It doesn't make you laugh because its funny, it just embarrases you into a reaction. Sometimes this can work, but this time they've just gone too far. Crudeness can be amusing when used in moderation, but not if continued throughout the whole movie.
However, it does, worryingly enough, have some basis in reality. Teenagers are sick, twisted and often obsessed with sex. Trust me, I am one, and have enough male friends to confirm that its the same with the opposite sex.
This is a film about teenagers, for teenagers. If you are one, then you'll probably love it. If you aren't, I wouldn't get too excited.
