Advantages: Some hillarious moments

Disadvantages: Won't appeal to everyone

American Pie is a teen comedy of the 'gross out' variety. The film tells the story of four high school boys who make a pact to lose their virginity before they graduate. The boys go to great lengths to achieve this and the film features many hillarious set pieces including the infamous apple pie scene. There is a large cast inlcuding Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Shannon Elizabeth (Scary Movie) and Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) who gets many of the funniest lines in the movie.

The DVD release features a good selection of extras including a documentary, commentary track featuring many stars of the movie and several deleted scenes including the alternate pie scene as featured in the 'American Pie: Unseen' VHS realease. If you enjoyed There's Something About Mary then American Pie will appeal to you as the humour is pretty similar.
