American Pie is such a great movie and funny that it's hard to not love it. The movie is filled with some really sick jokes and raunchy dialogue and still it a enjoyable to watch. I must admit though that all of the guys are all cliché, but they're played very well and so realistic that there just characters that everyone will love to be around for fun. Although American Pie is a movie I watch for cheap laughs I do think that it manages to portray first love in a touching way which makes me love and laugh at the film.

--------Plot & Characters---------
The plot has a group of four friends challenging one another to lose their virginity before prom night. It is, however, a very funny movie that goes much further than most of this type. There isn't really any nasty characters or bullies that tend to come in this genre of teen movies. Nerds do get the door slammed in their faces at a party, but there's no villain characters that are horrid and mean that I usually hate.
The four teens are an unlikely match for friends with Jim being a very awkward teen, Kevin a confident student, Chris a sporty member of the lacrosse team and Finch a sophisticated teen who thinks he is posh. Bringing the four together as a group of friends give people from all aspects of teen life together to enjoy the laughs from all angles.

Jim for me is the one who adds the most comedy to the movie. Jim is caught a number of times masturbating once even in a pie which I thought was classic. His dad, played by Eugene Levy, is so funny as he tries to be of guidance to his son in this area and his advice is hardly a subject poor Jim wants to discuss. The awkwardness Jim feels when his dad constantly wants to talk to him about sex was hilarious for me because his dad was way too upfront with it all.
Jim finds a pretty foreign-exchange student, Nadia, who needs a tutor and his friends all agree this is an opportunity he should take. They tell him to set up the video camera on his computer so all the friends can watch. He makes a mistake and sends it to the whole school and from what they all end up seeing he will never live it down. This part was probably one of my favourite parts of the movie because it's one of those things where you just have to laugh at how careless teens can be. I really admired Jim as a character I don't know why there was just something about his character that was quite cute to watch because he just seemed lost at times.
The rest of the gang had funny moments throughout the movie on there journey but nothing compared to Jim. I think Kevin's lead up to losing his vaginety was the sweeter side of the movie that I enjoyed watching. He had a girlfriend Vicky and I enjoyed watching there relationship grow as it brought a sweet side to the movie that was good to simmer down the vulgar/crude side in the movie.

Stiffler and Stiffler's parties are definitely a highlight of the movie because he is just a ball of energy and his parties are a place where you want to be when your young. He out of all of the characters in the movies is the most crude and has the most vulgar vocabulary. He is not a direct part of the gang but he seems to always be there in the movie but I would probably say he is more of a one man band and drags anyone fun along with him sort of thing. I did think some of the comments that Stiffler makes in the movie are a little over bored and does kinda make me feel a little sick.
The ending of the movie wraps up the movie nicely, with all four taking extremely different paths to the finish line. My favorite was Jim and his girl, I'll never hear the words "band camp" the same way ever again. The movie has so many references to band camp it makes me think I wish I went. American Pie is easily recommendable and very funny.

Overall the plot runs very smoothly and shows you all about teen life and having fun. The characters are very good and a diverse mix and are very well portrayed. This movie is not for everyone, but if you like crude sexual comedies, this might be for you.
