Advantages: Fairly original story, J Lo and Jim Caviezel play the main characters well
Disadvantages: Not enough action and suspense for my liking, Story weak in places
"The Deeper You Look. The More You Will Find" - or so the tagline to the film states... This is the first film I have watched where Jennifer Lopez has been among the cast, and I am pleased to say I was pleasantly suprised. I know she has her critics out there, but for me she played the part of Chicago Police Officer, Sharon Pogue, very well. THE STORY =============== (This opinion does not contain spoilers - reading it will not spoil the film for you if you haven't seen it) The film starts at the scene of an accident. It's not clear exactly what has happened, but Sharon (J Lo) is comforting a victim of the crash who is still inside his crumpled vehicle... A year later Sharon and her Police Officer colleagues are taking a break in a cafe when a car drives by and the men in the car shoot at the cafe deliberately targeting the Police Officers within. Sharon and her partner are unhurt and chase after the armed men on foot after they run from their vehicle after crashing it. Whilst in pursuit of one of the men, Sharon loses sight of him - he jumps out at her and is about to kill her when a mysterious stranger intervenes, disarms the man and saves her life. Sharon later meets up with the man who saved her life, only to learn his name is Catch... everything else about the main remains a mystery. As the pair's relationship gets closer they learn more about each other and are forced to deal with secrets from their past. THE CAST =============== Jennifer Lopez - Sharon Pogue James Caviezel - Catch Jeremy Sisto - Larry Pogue, Sr Terrence Dashon Howard - Robby Sonia Braga - Josephine Pogue Victor Argo - Carl Pogue Monet Mazur - Kathy Pogue Shirley Knight - Elanora Davis Daniel Magder - Larry Pogue, Jr Guylaine St-Onge - Annie Connor McAuley - Ma
x Lambert Jeremy Ratchford - Ray Micigliano Peter MacNeill (I) - Lieutenant Dennis Sanderman Eldridge Hyndman - Jamal Kari Matchett - Candace Although this film is packed with Hollywood celebrities, the actors and actresses play their parts well. As the story centres around the characters played by Jennifer Lopez and James Caviezel these have the main acting roles. As I have already mentioned, J Lo is suprisingly convincing as an actress and it is easy to forget of her as J Lo the pop star. James Caviezel manages to play the intriguing Catch, bringing a bit of mystery to his character. THE VERDICT =============== Although the story is weak in places, it is very watchable. The love story, mixed with a dash of suspense and a little bit of action works well. At approximately 135 minutes, this film doesn't drag on too long - my interest was held throughout the film, although it is not the type of film I would normally watch (I tend to enjoy thrillers, and films with plenty of action and suspense). The film is rated 15 and is probably more aimed towards a female audience. If you're in to love stories then this is perhaps a film for you. To conclude, I will give this film 4 out of 5, however I would advise that it is a film that is better rented than bought as it's not one I can imagine rushing to watch over again. Thanks for reading, Angeelu :o)
