Television spin-offs are always concepts to be treated with a certain amount of scorn. For instance who can ever recall a decent episode of Eastenders to come out of an attempt to shift locations to another country. Also that show Frasier, who ever thought that would ever be a success.....oh hold on a minute. Yes once again we have another example of why US television is becoming far better than our homegrown stuff. Those that have watched the first three seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer whill know who Angel and his demon slaying friends are. After Season 3 of Buffy there wasn't really no where for Angel to go in the show. Instead of leaving the vampire ... Read the complete review

And onto my second Angel review, for the second season in the series. Whereas season one of Angel (don't forget to check out my review!) harkened back to the early seasons of Buffy, with "monster of the week" as a prevalent theme, season two of Angel really gets into the swing of things with more complicated plot and character arcs. --Previously, on Angel...-- We left season one with a whimper - the big finale consisted of little more than Angel cutting off Lindsey's hand. This is a continuum of a series though so it will contain spoilers so I suggest you do not read if you care too much. Here is why this is a very worthy second season for Angel and here is why. Now in season 2 it follows off from season 1 and as I said in my last review I think it is great if you watch Buffy along with Angel as I think you will have needed to watch Buffy to fully understand Angel. This season has Angel investigations in full swing and Wolfram and Hart bringing out more secrets than ever. It also has the ... Read the complete review

*There are spoilers concerning the plot in this review* Angel Season 2 is where the Buffy The Vampire Slayer spin-off begins to come into its own. It had seemed like the show was just using its connections to its parent show to make its first season a success and as of such there were numerous crossovers and a very scattered batch of episodes. However, Season two leans deeper into the history of the vampire with a soul whilst establishing a whole new mythology which in turn pushed the shower toi a different audience and gave it much dark and mature roots than its parent show. It seemed fairly logical that a show about the character Angel would at ... Read the complete review

After having watched all seven seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and owning them on DVD, I decided the time had come to purchase the boxsets of the spin-off series Angel. Although I enjoyed the first season, I felt it was perhaps a little disjointed, so when I started on this the second season I was a little apprehensive, but was I right to be so? Read on and you'll find out…. ---About the Season--- The season begins in a karaoke bar, and a red-horned, green-skinned Demon singing "I will survive" and introducing Los Angeles a city of bright lights and dark streets, we then cut to our various heroes as they carry out their duties ...
