Advantages: Davinci code fans will love it, special effects were fab!

Disadvantages: confusing as hell

Angels and Demons is the sequel, yet also the prequel (if that makes sense)-as it was based before The DaVinci Code, to the 2006 'hit' The DaVinci Code, both based on the novels of the same name by Dan Brown, and was released in 2009. It sees Tom Hanks reprise the role of Prof. Robert Langdon, an American symbologist -what ever that is?

*Synopsis*
This time Langdon is fighting (metaphoracily of course) the Illuminati, the ancient secret society who threaten to kill future Pope canditates every hour before destroying the Vatican.

The only two noteable, well known stars in this are Hanks and Ewan McGregor who plays Carmerlengo Patrick McKenna, the papel court offical who assits Langdon in the investigation.

*My View*
I remember when the DaVinci Code first came out and after I heard friends rave about how good the film was i decided to see for my self. It confused me when I watched it, and the book confuses me even more and I'm not even going to begin to try and attempt to figure it out. Angels and Demons, much like the sequel-slash-prequel-slash-complete an utter mind boggle fest-slash-what ever the hell it's susposed to be, is much like before, with the only change is the fact that this movie has Ewan McGregor in it-who (from the parts I understood anyhow) played his part well and in my view was the best character in the film.

Hanks gave a ok performance, nothing terrible but definatley nothing to shout about-especially from his usually high standards but it may have been because of the complete lack of a story line that I could follow. The whole film, or many of the main parts anyhow, was based on Langdon traveling here and there with no real order, before finding a meaningless clue that somehow guided him somewhere completeley different.

Overall, fans of the DaVinci Code or of the Dan Brown books, will probably find this film great but for me, who completely misses the point of them, I found it quite tedious and boring, and after leaving the cinema I relaised that I had just wasted over 2 hours of a perfectly good Wednesday night, sat in a dark cinema bored and confused.

Summary: ok film but more for fans of Dan Brown and the series
