Angels and Demons is the bestselling book by American writer Dan Brown. The book follows the main character Robert Langdon who was also the lead character in the critically acclaimed 'The Da Vinci Code'. I am a fan of Dan Brown's book rushed to see 'Angels and Demons' as soon as it was released. The story follows Langdon and his quest to uncover a secret society named the Illuminati as a plot has been discovered to annihilate Vatican City using Antimatter. The story itself is explained in great detail in the book however this is lacking in the film due to the fact that the debate between science and religion opens a 'can of worms'. If you have read the book first you may will be disappointed with the film mainly because so much is missed out or only briefly explained. If you have not read the book you will be able to follow the film but only due to the fact you are spoon fed the basic facts when necessary. For me the although the story was different to 'The Da Vinci Code' (again a classic book) the actual layout of the film seemed the same i.e. a Cat and Mouse game with intricate clues along the way, led by Langdon (Tom Hanks) and a female sidekick. The film has a cast of award winning actors however i found the acting was fairly average but nothing special.
