As most films are (after you have read the book) Angels and Demons was a bit of a dissapointment. The plot is the same as the book (obviously). Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks) gets called to CERN, a cutting edge scientific research facility due to the fact one of their scientists has been murdered - and branded with some old markings. In ... Read the complete review

Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon comes back to solve another thriller/mystery after the commercially succesful Da Vinci Code.Though it is meant to be a prequel(in accordance to the series of books by Dan Brown),it is shown to be a sequel. The film starts off with a murder of a scientist, after which we also come to know of the death of the reigning ... Read the complete review

Film only review as this is still showing in cinemas. INTRODUCTION Angels and Demons is a 2009 movie directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor. It is based on a novel of the same name by Dan Brown. The novel is a prequel to Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" but the movie acts in the manner of a ... Read the complete review

Before watching the new Robert Langdon adventure, I went back and watched the 174-minute Director's cut of The Da Vinci Code just to refresh myself. It's overlong, cliched, and not really that interesting, even if Ron Howard's direction is good, and Tom Hanks' performance is decent. Angels and Demons is another bag altogether. Whilst ... Angels and Demons is the epic sequel to the Da Vinci Code, based on the brilliant series of books by Dan Brown. The catholic church and modern science have never cooperated, and groups such as the secret brotherhood, The Illuminati, have always been hunted down by the church. After looking at what other members of written it is clear that this is a film that has very mixed feelings. I don't read many books, so to me there was no background to be looking for throughout the film (despite my partner doing so). It stars Tom Hanks as a symbologist named Robert Langdon who, simillarly to the De Vici Code has to ... Read the complete review

Angels and Demons, A film I have been waiting to see since watching the first film The Da Vinci code. Having read the book which I found thoroughly captivating and thought provoking, for me the film failed to deliver this. There was so much of the story changed that i found i couldn't buy in to it. Also it seemed very 'dumbed down' as ... Read the complete review

Prior to seeing Angels and Demons in the cinema all I could get from friends and family who had already been was that it was better than The DaVinci Code. This is kind of like saying that something is better than banging your head against a wall, as the adaptation of Dan Brown's bestseller was a complete disaster. One would expect that Ron Howard ... Angels and Demons is a 2009 movie based on the book of the same name by Dan Brown. It is the sequel to The Da Vinci Code. It again featured Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. The story really focuses on the age old discussion of science versus the church and which is right and the scandals surrounding that quest for truth. A vial on ... Read the complete review

Angels and Demons (2009) is a thriller / drama directed by Ron Howard. The film is quite lengthy, at approximately 138 minutes in duration. The film is a sequel to the film 'The Da Vinci Code.' Both films are based on the best selling novels written by Dan Brown. It was reported that the Vatican were so furious ... Read the complete review

Robert Langdon is now needed by the Vatican to stop an impending deadly attack that would completely wipe out the foundation of the Catholic Church. With a lot more violence, frantic pace and Tom Hanks' noticeably shorter hair, "Angels and Demons" proved to a lot more entertaining than its predecessor, "The DaVinci Code." ... I'm not going to go into the plot of Angels and Demons, we know what happens! The criticisms that I have read have been round the unbeliveability of the plot, the rushing from one action scene to the next, Tom Hanks guessing the clues too quickly... Personally, I preferred Da Vinci Code to Angels and Demons. I felt with the Da Vinci Code you had clues that were a bit more cridible and needed a bit more thought to work out whereas with this film the clues seemed very weak. I did think the end was good with a twist I would never have guessed. This increased my overall rating otherwise it ... Read the complete review

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the author Dan Brown; firstly as a result of his portrayal of Catholocism in 'The Da Vinci Code', secondly, due to claims of plagiarism on his part, and finally, because of his dubious merits as a writer. Anyway, love him or hate him, there's no doubting that the man is extremely popular, and ... Read the complete review

Despite not really enjoying the Da Vinci Code film at all (the book was ok, but the film really didn't live up to the hype) I was dragged along to see the latest of Dan Brown's books made into a film. Despite Tom Hanks giving a good performance in the main role, once again the film never really lived up to the book. It really did take ... Read the complete review

'Angels and Demons' was a film I had been looking forward to for a long time. I felt it was a better story than 'The Da Vinci Code' and would make the transition to film a lot more easily, especially with Ron Howard learning the lessons from the disappointing first outing of Tom Hank's Robert Langdon. So Langdon returns, this time to ... Read the complete review

To start with I must say that I have not read this book, but after watching The Da Vinci Code I felt no need as I felt as though the storyline in the first film was explained very well and no book was required. This is Angels and Demons the very highly anticipated film adaptation of Dan Brown's first of two successful books. I was very wary of how ... Read the complete review

There is only one thing to do when you make a film that is universally panned, and that's to attempt to make something better the next time.
