Advantages: some greaty comedy moments

Disadvantages: none really

This film is based on the book of the same name by Louise Rennison. (Actually it's not quite the same name - the book was called Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal snogging but apparantly they had to tone down the name for the film!)

I had seen trailers for this film while it was out at the cinema and thought it looked very funny but was well aware it was aimed at 12 to 16 year old girls so thought i'd give it a miss. However there was nothing else at the DVD shop last night and it did look funny so we rented it.

I was suprised at how good it was - it was laugh out loud funny in quite a lot of places and Alan Davies as the dad was great as he is one of my favourite comedians.

The story centres around Georgia and the trials of being a teenager really, her getting a huge crush on a new boy at school. There are loads of comedy moments that are quite silly but acted well enough so that they are funny for adults too not just kids or teenagers.

Angus I always thought when hearing about the film was the name of the boy that Georgia fancied - but no instead it turns out to be her cat! There are some very funny scenes with Angus the cat - even silly things that i don't normally laugh at such as Georgia's little sister dressing up Angus in different costumes all the time.

I imagine a lot of teenage girls (and even boys ) would relate to this film - there are lots of scenes involving Georgia's parents embarrasing her in front of her friends or boys (in fact i felt slightly transported back 15 years ago myself while watching it!).

I would recommend this film as a funny, light hearted and easy to watch DVD to watch on an evening where you just fancy a bit of something entertaining and funny. I didn't expect to like it as much as i did because i thought i was too old - but even the male friend I watched it with thought it was great too! So give it a try. Personally i'm off to buy a couple of the books - who cares if they are supposed to be aimed at teenagers - they sound hilarious!!
