Advantages: Great cast, script, humour and soundtrack.

Disadvantages: Not for all ages.

I went to see this film in the cinema with my daughter and have since purchased the DVD. The film is based on Louise Rennison's books based on the character of Georgia Nicolson ( played by Georgia Groome ) from her much read teenage works. The film differs slightly to the book, but that's to be expected with many adapations. For those confused by the title, Angus refers to their cat, thongs refers to the underwear that they perceive are worn by those girls who want to attract the attention from boys and perfect snogging needs no description, LOL, but it's thought that the resident teenage snogging-tutor Peter Dyer would rate Georgia as perfect in the snogging stakes !!

The film itself centres around a small group of friends, but mainly Georgia ( we also see a lot of Georgia's family life too ) who are teenagers trying to make sense of the world and their hormones !! Typical boy/girl loves and losses throughout with constant humour and a fabulous soundtrack to boot. The small group of friends, as tends to happen when boys are on the scene, fractures and repairs itself during this time when Georgia and her best friend Jas fall for a pair of brothers at school. Jas' relationship with Tom tends to run smoother from the get-go as Robbie, Tom's brother, is already involved with the official school totty Lindsay. I always despair when friendships change when boys are on the scene but I guess that's the way of the world and this film highlights how easy this can happen, even to the best of friends.

Robbie ( played by Aaron Johnson ) is ultimately the film's heart-throb and his character proves how a biy can have more than just a pretty face. He's ultimately a hottie with a good heart, who's in a band ( The Stifff Dylans, who are a real band, but without Robbie in real life ) and is capable of loving cats, what more can a girl ask for ? LOL !! We witness how Robbie deals with his feelings for Georgia who is very different in all manner of ways from his current girlfriend Lindsay and struggles to deal with how Georgia has gone about things to make him jealous.

All in all, there's a lot of humour and typical teenage shenanigans to be had, all mixed together with a fab soundtrack that I'd also recommend. A great little cast who play their parts well and live up to the characteristics needed to make the film and script work. It's very much a chick flick but it's more of a teenage chick-flick so may not be everyone's cup of tea. I'd recommend it for ages 10 and above ( due to some typical teenage conversations and issues that the film touches upon.)

Summary: A great adaptation and one which will make most teenage girls fall in love with Aaron Johnson
