... probably know the songs by heart too, which is saying something since we live in Bulgaria. (I suspect some of you are frowning at the amount of DVD watching going on in my household. All I can say is that my daughter is the boss. She knows how to put DVDs in herself and the carnage that results if we disallow one is really not worth the bother.) For those of you blessed readers who have never happened across this charming story, "Annie" follows the adventures of a Annie the orphan, who by chance gets plu...more

Annie - Fit for Viewing by Persons Generally Excruciating, is one word which comes to mind, when thinking of how to sum up Annie the Musical. Raucous, grating and harsh, could describe the songs. Contrived, implausible and sudsy, the plot. However, I've watched this DVD probably getting on for 100 times as it is a firm favourite with my daughter, who is 3, which just goes to prove that genetics don't always work. I saw Annie the musical as a stage production when a sprog myself, and I took from that experience a love of the fandabulous song "Tomorrow", as well as the desire to be a 4 ft 3 curly-ginger-headed American girl with a stinky ...  Read the complete review

This film is very entertaining and is a must buy. In the film, an orphan has lived all her life with one family, but the woman is very mean to her. Then, she is looked after by a billionairre for a while, and she loves it. She might even get a couple of little surprizes. The cast does a great job and fit into their roles very well. The script is good and the director also works well. The film can be watched over and over again before it gets boring. The story is very easy to understand so everyone will be able to watch and enjoy the film. The soundtrack is very good and entertaining. You will be singing along to it in no time. ...  Read the complete review

It's not often you get a musical that will appeal to all the family - the likes of "Evita" and "Martin Guerre" go right over young childrens heads. "Annie" however, is one of the few that the whole family can settle down to. I realised this when I was babysitting my 2year-old cousin, who was being a little boisterous. I sat her down in front of the TV and not a peep from her for 2hours - she was entranced! The musical "Annie" originated from the stories of "Little Orphan Annie", and was a hit in Broadway before being made into the movie version. "Annie" herself is an red headed ...  Read the complete review

I love this film! It's set in the 1930s, and is about Annie, a 10-year-old orphan. Her parents left her on the steps of an orphanage when she was a baby as they couldn't afford to keep her. However, they left her with a locket around her neck, and promised they'd come back for her. Until then, Annie's stuck in the orphanage with the Miss Hannigan - the orphanage's drunken tyrant. But then Grace Farrell (personal secretary to Oliver Warbucks, the billionaire) visits the orphanage. Mr Warbucks wants an orphan to spend a week with him in his home, and Grace chooses Annie. Mr Warbucks is a very busy man, and he doesn't really plan ...  Read the complete review

Annie oh Annie. This has to be one of my favourite films of all times. I have watched it over and over and over again. Each time I have laughed, sang along and almost cried. I think it has such a moving storyline that anyone of any age can enjoy it. In case you don’t know Annie is a red headed orphan. The story is based around Annie who was left on the doorstep of the orphanage as a baby. She is forever trying to escape and the other orphans love her. Miss Hannigan is in charge of the orphanage and she is so nasty to the children it makes you feel really sorry for them. Annie’s luck is in when Mr Warbucks, a rich businessman sends his assistant in search ...  Read the complete review
