Advantages: Fantastic storyline

Disadvantages: None!

Annie is my ALL TIME favourite movie! I auditioned for a school play when I was 11, and I went for the part of Annie...knowing NOTHING about the film.

My mum bought me the movie, and I watched it over and over and over!!! It made me chuckle and cry, and I still watch it occasionally to this day.

It is about a little 10 year old red headed orphan, who has lived in a New York orphanage, which is dirty and run down, since she was a babe in arms. Annie was told, her parents left her there and would come and collect her later in life. However, the truth was, her parents died in a crash, leaving poor Annie as an orphan. The orphans in the orphange sing some great songs, and do some great dances and arabatics...before their fun is always stopped by the drunk owner of the orphange, Mrs Hannigan.

One day, the PA from Oliver Warbucks the billionaire (he's something to do with politics) comes to the orphanage stating that Oliver wants to look after an orphan for a week. Annie is chosen after doing much persuation which is amusing, and leaves for the mansion...which she says is like a train station!

She has a fab time at the billionaires mansion, even though it includes some up and downs (I don't want to ruin the whole plot!) Mr Warbucks wants to adopt Annie, but upon asking her, she says she really wants to find her folks. So he advertises that he's offering a huge $$$ reward to Annies parents. They have tons of applicants, but none of them bring the other half of Annies broken locket as identity.

The owner of the orphanage plots to pretend to be Annies parents to get the $$$. This doesn't work out as planned, and evetually Annie finds out her parents are actually dead.

She is then adopted by Mr Warbucks...and they all live happily ever after. The end.

Annie (Aileen Quinn) is a terrific little actress and singer. She fits this part perfectly, they couldn't have chosen a better main girl. Mrs Hannigan (Carol Burnett) is also perfect for the role, and does a fab impression of a drunk woman throughout the film. Other main characters include Albert Finney as Oliver Warbucks, Tim Curry as Rooster (Mrs Hannigans evil brother)

This movie was made in 1982.

Enjoy!

Summary: A fun fillled movie for kids and adults

There is a timeless innocence to the film indeed. And yeah I always felt it 'looked' earlier than the 80's, but then I was just 3 then.
