Introduction:
As a Disneychannel watcher (and proud of it haha!), I have come to know of most of the "stars" of the shows, don't get me wrong, I know the programmes are possibly the rubbishest of rubbish shows, but sometimes I need the mind-numbing capabilities of kids programmes (especially when all is on normal TV is Panorama and Newsnight!) and Disney Channel does just that, and I have grown to actually enjoy some of the programmes. So when I say that Wizards of Waverly Place actress Selena Gomez was in this new version of the Cinderella fairytale. I have never watched A Cinderella Story (which stars Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray) but I thought I'd watch this "dance" version of the film.

Plot:
Mary lives with her Stepmother and 2 evil stepsisters, she is treated like the household maid and isn't allowed to do anything that may be deemed fun before she has done her chores.
But she has a passion, a passion for dance, and has to hide the passion and even dances behind a screen along with the dance classes in gym class so that nobody knows she is there.

When Joey Parker, a huge pop star, comes to town, and starts to go to their school, all of the girls swoon over him, and throw themselves at him, including Marys stepsisters.

At the Black&White school ball, which Mary almost doesn't make for she is having to tidy her stepmothers bedroom, but best friend Tami comes to the rescue enrolling her Uncles and Cousins to clean the room, while she attends the ball. At the ball everybody wears masks, and so she is invisable to everybody, including Joey. But when they dance together, they both feel something, and the whole school are green with envy. But as midnight strikes, Mary has to rush home before her stepmother returns from her meeting and finds her gone. But dropping her iPod equivilent on her rush out the door, Joey picks it up and vows to find her.

But just like with the classic fairytale, there are problems to overcome to get to her. Not least from Mary's family. And not only that, but Mary has also applied for a dance college, who have still not replied to her application...but not all is as it seems...!

My Opinion:
I watched this film as I thought it would be quite good, maybe a little kiddy but I like the original Walt Disney's Cinderella, and the story is sweet, so I thought I'd give it a go.

The film is very much like a younger version of Step Up or Honey. It's very easy to watch and has a really simple storyline. It isn't the best film that I have ever seen I must say, and it's not as good as I thought it was going to be.

There wasn't really anything wrong with the acting in the film, although not spectacular, it was what you expect from teenager actors, and better than some acting I have seen by people who have been in the business a lot longer than these people.

The acting from the stepsister Britt, played by Emily Perkins, was terrible I must say, she is weird, and does this stupid thing with her face all the way through the film, I don't know if this is a specific thing she does on purpose in this film, as she is playing an "ugly sister" and may be trying to make herself uglier by pulling this really dodgy face all through the film, but not just that the acting really is terrible.

I think the thing with this film is not to take it seriously, it is a children's film, and although I have seen better films for this age group, this isn't one of the worst. It's a short-ish watch at 90 minutes, and a good film to keep kids entertained for an hour and a half. I would recommend this film for youngish teenage girls (between 10 and 15 I'd say is the perfect age for this film), those of that age would love this film. If you're over 16, your more than likely going to find it a little "naff", but you can't hold this against the film.

In conclusion: For the age group the film is made for, it does the job, and would be loved by young girls, but for adults, it's not such a good film. The story is a little weak and unmemorable, and has been done too many times now, the Cinderella story is done alot in films, and even the title ANOTHER Cinderella story, it's as though even the makers of the film are getting fed up of finding new variations on the classic story.

Give this a go if you like films like Honey and Step Up, or if your a teenage girl!

Summary: A film for the youngsters!

I liked the original, mainly because Chad Michael Murray's in it!
