Advantages: The many mistakes made by Dreyfuss and Esteves
Disadvantages: Bit unbelievable and silly at times-but kind of adds to it's charm to.
I watched this film the other night on TV as I always remembered it being quite funny, which it still is, though a bit dated now.
The film "Another Stakeout" was filmed in 1993 and is the sequel to "Stakeout" (1987). This time there is the addition of Rosie O'Donnell who adds a lot of laughs being the only female on the stakeout.
The story centres around detective Chris Lecce (Richard Dreyfuss) and his partner detective Bill Reimers (Emilio Esteves) who have once again disappointed there Sergeant and are forced to take on an assignment whereby they assist district attorney Gina Garrett (O'Donnell)on a Stake out. The three must pretend to be a family with Gina and Chris as husband and wife and Bill as his son. They are staking out the neighbour's house waiting to catch Luella Delano (Cathy Moriarty) a witness to a crime, who recently disappeared.
It's very much a slapstick comedy with plenty of errors being made by all three main characters but it is quite amusing and nail biting at the same time.
I have to say that it's hard to believe that Chris and Bill are detectives in the film as they are forever making mistakes but as usual it all works out in the end.
This is a lighthearted movie; it's easy going and fun, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
Summary: I found this sequel quite funny and perfect for an afternoon movie.
