Advantages: Great casting, Good story
Disadvantages: Alittle techy
I know my title might seem alittle nerdy, but the main theme of the film is essentially microsoft's hold on commercial software vs the free stuff avaliable - most notably LInux. If you've seen the trailers for the film and heard the sell-lines then you'll know its about a company very much like microsoft headed by a man very much like Bill Gates who appears to be stealing all the ideas from independant "garage" developers around the world. These ideas make their way into the commercial software and so the money pot grows. The main character (and our hero) Milo is one such developer, poached away from his "open source" development friends to join the massive corporation with the promise of changing the world for the better. From that point onwards its a case of mis-trust and decite culminating in a nice ending ... which i wont spoil for you. If some of the terms ive used in this opinion dont make sense (open source, linux) then you might find this film alittle hard going. Its been compared to the happy hacking film "sneakers" from some years back but i found it just that bit more techy to confuse the non-techy viewers - hackers on the other hand was easily watchable by anyone. Being a techy type i enjoyed this film, not top of my list for the year so far but worth popping in your list at about position 9 or 10 for films to pickup from the video shop when the top 8 have already been seen.
