Advantages: very entertaining, Great actors

Disadvantages: none that I picked up on (I'm not very picky)

I am a great fan of action movies. It is one of my favourite kinds. This one caught my attention straight away with the intresting title and the amount of great actors in this film. Not surprisingly, I was hooked in a few minutes.

The movie starts off with a little history lesson about the earth. After that, you see a NASA space crew and satallite being destroyed by a meteorite the size of Texas. You've guessed it, its final destination is Earth. It will make contact in eighteen days. In those eighteen days, debris from the wreck is hitting the Earth and causing mass damage to areas like New York. NASA is faced with the big problem of saving the world.

Bruce Willis is Harry Stamper. He is the best oil driller in the whole of America. There isn't any type of ground he can't break through. If there is oil, he will be the one to strike it. He is also the single father to a daughter named Gracie who he has raised on his own. The part of Gracie is played by Liv Tyler.

Harry's rig crew has the nickname, "Cowboys." These are a bunch of rough neck men that can get the job done and get it done right apart from one. He is AJ and is played by Ben Affleck. He likes to do things hos own way and not lesten to Harry. AJ and Gracie have had a relationship for a few months without Harry knowing. One faithful day Harry finds out and trys to shoot him. All this makes you feel very safe that the fate of the world is depending on them.

Soon NASA is on Harry's oil rig picking him and Gracie up. Afterwards, Harry finds out that NASA has stolen his drill design that he made and is wanting him to train NASA's own little boys to use the drill in less than 18 days. Harry decides that is impossible and demands the "Cowboys" are used. The cowboys are all gathered up and informed of their latest job and they all agree to do the job after a few demands are met. They must then go through the tests and examinations don
e by NASA. When all of this is done AJ asks Gracie to marry him and she acepts. Now Gracie is worrying about her father safety and AJ's safety.

They are divided into two groups and sent up into space in two shuttles. The minute they get close to the meteor, they run into problems. Soon they see just how hard their job will be. This part of the movie is full of suspense and will definetly keep you on the edge of your seat.

This movie, in my opinion, is a movie well worth watching. I enjoyed it very much and I even asked myself if it were possible for a meteor that size to hit earth. Not a pleasant thought. See for yourself and rent it when you have a chance(also a good one for the movie collection). You will be surprised with the story line, they bring it off so real to life. And the special effects and space scenes are amazing.

Here are just a few names to look for in this movie: Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Michael Clark Duncan, Billy Bob Thorton, and Will Patton. Watch the character "Rockhound", he will having you laughing all the time.

Cracking film - one which surprisingly stands up repeated viewings. Don't worry Ophelia - it isnt just the women - I always end up with some irritating grit in my eye or something similar just at the end!
