EVIL DEAD III - THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE I am a film maker. I also study and write about films in my spare time. I have seen all the films that are referred to as the classics of the cinema. But never have I come across a film as good as this. Never has a film been made that has made me laugh so loud that even my mother has trouble sleeping. Once upon a time there was a film called The Evil Dead. This film was to become the most talked about horror film of its generation. A film made by students and featuring nothing famous but gore and special effects would no doubt cause a storm in the horror industry. But for a serious film maker, and for s serious film fans, or boffins, what could it possibly do? Well, it’s simple. The film creates a story that is simple, and is equally well told, all leading to the fact that a sequel is inevitable. And with Evil Dead II, the sequel finally came. However, Evil Dead II was not as good as it could have been. The film serves less as a sequel than a remake, and unfortunately a remake is what it is. But, when watching Evil Dead II it seems as if the series has been ruined, the sequel only sets its self up as the perfect preface to the third instalment in the (at the moment) trilogy. The second film ends with our hero (Ash) telling a spell, and thus sucking the 'EVIL' away, through time, into the past. However, so strong Is the duck, that Ash is sucked back along with it, with his car, his shotgun and the trusty 'groovy' chainsaw that serves as a replacement to his hand. He is sucked back in time to the middle ages, where a war is waged between two armies, and also between the two armies and the deadites, the evil dead no less. Ash is spoken of as the chosen one, who will 'come from a strange place and deliver them from the evil dead'. So then, be Ash's task. Except for the fact he ain't no hero. And this is where the brilliant comedy of the whol
e film starts. Just imagine what it would be like if you could mix Austin Powers with Jason and the Argonaunts. That is exactly what you have here. This is the hardest review of any film that I have ever had to writer, The hardest opinion that I have ever had to give. Quite simply because: I think that this is the greatest film ever made. It is a film that comically has no faults. There are many scenes that serve as classics. For example, when he is sent on the quest to find the 'necronomicon', he simply has to remember three words that have to be spoken when he finds it. But, like any normal human being would, he forgets the words. But being cocky and just simply being Ash, he pretends to remember them, and he simply mumbles the words, thinking it is going to trick the magic that he is trying to avoid. As you can imagine, in one of the funniest scenes in movie history, he fails, and we are left to see his first battle scene against a skeleton army. I can't really say much more in case I do one of two things: either go on and on until I run out of fingers with which to type about this brilliant and faultless movie, or quite simply to give the plot away so much that anybody who hasn't seen this film will not watch it. Now that would be a big big shame. If you miss this one the quite simply, you're a fool. The greatest movie ever made…..
