Army of Darkness is the third film in the Evil Dead Trilogy. It starts where the last film left off. Ash is in Medieveal times and has been mistaken as being one of Henry the Red's men, the rivals of King Arthurs men. He is sent to the pit, where deadites are kept to kill henry's men. The wiseman tries to explain to Arthur that Ash is the chosen one sent from the skies to rid them of the evil but he doesn't beleive him. Luckily the wiseman throws Ash his chainsaw and he escapes from the pit and makes Arthur's men set Henry and his men free. He then tells everyone that he wants to be sent home. The wiseman tells him that he first has to quest for the Necronomicon, book of the dead. When he retrieves it he must bring it back and the wiseman can send him home and kill all the deadites. Complete with new metal hand Ash sets of. He is attacked by minature versions of him, one of which jumps inside him and grows inside him eventually splitting away and becoming Bad Ash. Ash kills him and finds the book. Before he takes it he must say three words, but forgets the last one so pretends to say it and raises the army of the dead.

He insists that the wiseman send him home even though he has unleashed evil on them, but when a deadites steals his girlfriend Shelia he decides to stay and fight. He trains them and shows them how to make gunpowder and turns his car into a steam powered chopping machine. Who will win, the ultimate battle between good and evil.

This film is much different to the other two films, which are both set in a cabin, this is also more of a comedy than horror. However that doesn't mean this film isn't as good. This film is packed full of humour. From the battle between the two army's to Ash's cheesy one liners. Some people consider this film as the worst of the trilogy and some don't like it because it has lost most of the horror element, however this, in my opinion is as good as the other two. Bruce Campb
ell is back as Ash and does a brilliant job, I liked the good Ash, bad ash bit and Sam Raimi does a good directign job again.

I have got the video with the alternate ending, which now can only really be found on ebay, but it is cheap and is worth looking for because the endings are both really good, although I prefer the S-Mart ending. I would recommend you watch this even if you don't like horror films or the other two evil dead films because it is entirely different. It has the horror element there to satisfy horror fans and the comedy element for people who like comedy films. I would reccommend it.

one of my faves. i prefer the 'other' ending, by which i mean "one, two, three, four... huh, what was that? four, five". shoulda kept it. Ash has some of his best lines i.e. "babe... you got real ugly", but my faves are the way the medival guys speak i.e. "for that arrogance i shall see thee dead" and my fav "dung-eating fool...". Brucie is god.
