***Why I watched the Ashes to Ashes - series 2*** Ashes to Ashes was the long awaited spin off from the fantastic 'Life on Mars' series. I have reviewed the first series so I will try to make sure I do not repeat myself. I eagerly awaited series 2 as I thoroughly enjoyed the first series. It might not yet be time to lower the coffin of Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes into the ground, but the grave is certainly being dug. Which is a slightly convoluted way of saying that, on the strength of Ashes to Ashes Series 2, the programme has had its day. I was always concerned when a spin-off to Life on Mars was announced but Ashes Series 1 surprised me by pulling it off. It might never have scaled the heights of its sister show, but it still proved entertaining. Ashes Series 2 also manages this, but that entertainment has been diluted still further; it's starting to feel a little tired and formulaic.
