Eventually, he explains that his daughter, Audrey Rose, died many years ago and that he believes that Ivy is a reincarnation of his daughter. The family ignore his claims, until Ivy starts having nightmares and they begin to think that his claims could be true. ** Thoughts ** As I have already said, when I read the review for this movie (which was a lot more detailed and enjoyable than my own) it sounded like something that I would really enjo...more

Audrey Rose (DVD): A must watch (442 words)

Rating:

Ivy is a normal little girl who, at the age of about 10 if memory serves, beings having distressing nightmares. She dreams that she is burning to death in a car, and runs around her bedroom (while asleep) banging at windows and doors, screaming, yelling for her Daddy, burns appear on her hands despite her not touching anything hot - and nothing her parents do, especially her father, can do to calm her down until she exhausts herself. Other odd events occur that worry her parents and when she trancelike tries to crawl into a bonfire, they decide to get help. A very young Anthony Hopkins is also following them around. He convinces Audrey's parents into meeting ...  Read the complete review

** Movie Only Review ** I read a review for this movie a few months ago and thought it sounded like something that I would really enjoy. So when I was browsing in HMV and saw it in the 2 for £10 offer, I had to pick it up and give it a go!! From a quick look online, I can see that the movie was released in 1977 and stars Marsha Mason, Anthony Hopkins, John Beck and Susan Swift. The movie runs for 113 minutes. ** The Story ** The movie starts on a rainy day and we can see out of the windscreen of a car. Out of nowhere, another car comes towards the windscreen and the car we are seeing out of swerves out of control and ...  Read the complete review

Audrey Rose (DVD): and the oscar goes to... (437 words)

i first saw this movie when i was a child (probably under age) I asked people about it for years and nobody knew what I was talking about. I finally tracked it down on a video site and was told it was deleted... 3 years later i managed to get the film and it was most definetely as i remembered it. Susan Swift is a gifted young actress as the young girl - Ivy -who starts to have terrifying dreams of burning alive, and Anthony Hopkins is just as wonderful as the stranger who belives his daughter (Audrey Rose) has come back from the dead and been reincarnated as Ivy (after a fatal car accident in which Audrey Rose and his wife were burned alive.) Confused? ...  Read the complete review

i didn't expect this movie to be on the list...i love it but havent seen/heard of it for years. the film is about a young girl called ivy (played by susan swift) who around the time of her birthday each year has strange dreams and ges in to violent trances. her mother (marsha mason) is approached by a man (anthony hopkins) who claims that his daughter "audrey rose" who was burned alive in a car accident has been reincarnated in the body of ivy! the film has elements which may have borrewed from the exorcist, but it is not a shock/ gore movie, the main part of thr film is taken up with ivy's parents trying to come to terms with what is ...  Read the complete review
