Because you don't tend to see many negative comments about films and television programmes, I felt obliged to write a review of Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery.

Now don't get me wrong, there are a few funny and actually quite clever moments in this film - like when Austin is in the bathroom and the Irish assassin tries to kill him. Also, I think that Dr Evil (also Mike Myers) is an excellent character and his therapy session with his long-lost son, Scott, is amusing.

I have only recently seen this film and so I had become engulfed in the hype, hype and more hype that surrounded Mr Powers. In a nutshell, this film is very weak. It was no where near as good as I thought it would have been and much of the attempted humour just is not funny.

You will, however, probably enjoy this film if you like daft comedies and laugh and giggle at sillyness itself. Also, Liz Hurely (actress?) comes across as very weak and lacks personality.

Overall Austin Powers the hype became bigger than the movie and consequently it was unable to live up to its inflated reputation - in fact it didn't even come close for me. By now I've probably angered all you Powers fans, so I'll stop writing...
