Advantages: The music is believed to be beneficial for brain development
Disadvantages: Can be a bit repetitive for the adults 'supervising'
Mummy and Daddy bought me this as a present when I was only 6 weeks old and its my favourite thing. I get to watch it every day, but I haven't got bored of it yet and I'm just over 4 months old now. There are lots of images of things that I really like such as toys, train sets, candles and puppets (the snake that goes 'Blurgh' is my favourite - he makes me laugh everytime). I know when its Mozart time as I recognise the start of the video and I can't contain my excitment and my arms and legs go everywhere. It keeps me entertained for a full 25 minutes and Mummy's so kind that she lets me watch the credits as well as I even enjoy them. Once Mummy even let me watch it twice in one day - I enjoyed it just as much second time. While I'm busy smiling and gurgling at my video Mummy has a chance to enjoy a cup of tea in peace - but she's never out of sight. Apparently listening to Mozart's music is helping me get clever, so as well as it being fun, its educational as well. Sometimes Mummy sits with me and talks to me about whats on the screen and I love it when she helps me dance along to the music. Mummy and Daddy didn't realise how many places you hear Mozart's music without realising it - MacDonald's adverts - Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star - Mobile phone rings - to name a few! (So I guess its educational for parents as well!). If any of Mummy and Daddy's friends have babies I will tell them to buy this as a present because I really enjoy it and I'm sure they would too. - 07/05/02 Hi
Thanks for the welcomes.
The 'experts' say that listening to classical music, in particular that of Mozart increases the capacity of the brain to learn - not sure of the exact details, but its called 'the Mozart effect'
Baby David's Mum - he's safely tucked up in his cot now.

- 03/05/02 I have heard of these new educational baby videos. I myself went for the Baby Bright. There is also Baby Einstein and Baby Bach, but I watched a baby show and these 'experts' said teh best one to get is baby bright, because Baby Einstein can be too confusing and thus hinder a child's development. I can't remember whether they commented on the Baby Mozart/Bach ones. My little one hasn't watched it yet because he is yet to be born. But if I play it now, do you think he'll be born an Einstein? |
