Definitely worth a watch! (Babylon A.D. (DVD))

Advantages: Vin Diesel, action, special effects. NO CHEESE!

Disadvantages: the point of the story was not made enough, non leading characters not very developed

Okay, there were a lot of mixed reviews about Babylon A.D. and i know people who were very disappointed with this film, as were most. It is basically the tale of a smuggler who has the dream to once again return to his home where he has been banished from after a series of events before the film was set. He is sent to smuggle a girl from a monastry into the now impossible-to-enter America without knowing why or what for. The problem was with this film is that they didn't make the point of it bold enough. That is why most people are disappointed. I think the film relied upon Vin Diesel's reputation a little too much and also the special effects of a future America. The point was that the religion that the girl's mother has created was a fake and a fraud: this may also have a point of saying that existing religions are also like this already. But this film is a decent watch and worth the rental cost at least. A lot of action and a good - if not overlooked - point to the story.

Summary: Babylon A.D. should be better. It has a very important message about religion, but a good watch!
