... three films are fun, imaginative and exciting. Now let's face it, these films are old. However, I think they still have a lot to offer for teen or family viewing. The theme of time travel is still going strong (see Time Traveler's Wife) and appeals to us all in some way. On top of that, the films have dated very little. If you look at the special effects, they're minimal, so you can get away with watching these without cringing. The only real notable exception is the trip into the future in the second film where the 3d sh...more

Premium Review Back To The Future Trilogy (DVD): Three films that changed history (589 words)

Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) completely changes time and creates a new cult in this phenomenal trilogy. As a teenager in 1985 Marty is pretty ordinary, it's the people he knows who are extraordinary. His father George McFly (Crispin Glover), a pathetic wimp of a man unlikely to stand up for himself any time in the future; his mother, Lorraine Baines McFly (Lea Thompson), a drunk who seems to regret marriage to George; Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) an evil bully who takes George for everything he can; last but by no means least Dr. Emmet Brown (Christopher Lloyd), a mad scientist about to discover the secret that has eluded scientist for millennia...time travel. ...  Read the complete review

I have been spending my New Year break indulging myself with a fantastic present that I got for Christmas - the box set of the Back to the Future trilogy on DVD. (OK, I know this is the film category, but after three weeks of waiting for dooyoo to create the cirrect category, I have got fed up of waiting and decided to post here - it will be moved if the new category ever appears). It has been quite a few years since I've seen these films, but it didn't take much watching to remind me of just why I enjoyed them so much. These three films formed such a major part of my childhood (along with Indiana Jones, another favourite of mine) and it has been wonderful to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Back To The Future Trilogy (DVD): A timeless time travel trio (554 words)

You can't beat a bit of old school Back to the Future to make memories of an 80s childhood flood back, and this collection is the bee's knees, containing as it does all three movies. The plot of each one is slightly different but let me give you an overview. There's a teenager in America called Marty McFly and he's cool. He plays loud music, skateboards, and sleeps in his clothes. His home-life is somewhat dysfunctional, but he's hanging in there. He befriends a crazy old inventor called Doc, who invents a time machine and takes Marty on a series of adventures in both the past and the future. From going back in time to when his parents were teenagers (the ...  Read the complete review

A few days ago I decided to watch the whole Back To The Future trilogy, I recieved the boxset as a gift a few years ago, I had seen the trilogy before and loved it. When I watched it again I realised just how much I love it. It is one of the great trilogies out there and easily ranks up at the top with the likes of Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings and The Godfather. The first film of the trilogy was filmed seperately and was released in 1985 but a sequel was always planned (the film ended: to be continued) and people couldn't wait. The second and third films were made back to back with the second released in 1889 and the third released in 1990. In between the ...  Read the complete review

Well i've been waiting for this for nearly four years. when i first got my dvd player all that time ago this was one of the films on the wishlist. i was looking forward to rediscovering this amazing trilogy on those nice shiny discs and getting all nostalgic in front of the telly. Well the time has come. Released just before christmas, the back to the future trilogy is an old fashioned 'event' movie. In fact it was one of the first back in its day, critics and fans alike were wowed by the amazing effects and brilliant storyline of the first film released in 1985 and clamoured for more after the teasing ending of 'to be ...  Read the complete review
