Produced in 1994, I first watched this film on video when it was originally released. (This was probably a few years later). I remember thoroughly enjoying it, especially the music as I also bought the soundtrack. About 4 years or so ago I came across my soundtrack tape and after giving it a listen I wanted to see the film again. I ventured into HMV to be told it wasn't available on DVD and that the video had been withdrawn from sale. I resigned myself to not being able to see this again unless I came across it on TV. This movie fascinatingly looks at the Beatles before Brian Epstein came into their lives--when all they had was raw talent, desire, and uppers. It's easy to forget that these great artists were once hungry, greasy punks but that's the truth. They may have cleaned up their act later but this important film shows us the heart they had from the start. The film not only deals with the Beatles history and gives you the side of the band which was kept from audiences by the films 'Hard Days Night', 'Twist and Shout' and 'Yellow Submarine' which focused on the lads 'nice boys' image, instead showing you the alchoholism, domestic violence and the sexual hedonism.
