Whist in Bangkok, Cage befriends a couple of locals (and kills a couple too) until he eventually falls out with his employers and his friends are kidnapped. Will he rescue them, or will he flee the country with his money? Bangkok Dangerous is an okay film - it offers nothing that we've not seen 100 times before and won't win any Oscars, but it is enjoyable. Cage puts in a decent performance (as ever), although he...more

Crowned Review Bangkok Dangerous [2008] (DVD): A Bangkok and Bull Story (951 words)

Film Only Review. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Every day last week, Nicolas Cage's beady reptillian eyes have been staring at me from the local tramstops adorned with posters, from Mlynow to Arkadia. No he isn't visiting Warsaw but the film Bangkok Dangerous is showing at the cinema. Now I have to be perfectly honest here, I am not keen on Cage. The only film that I've been able to tolerate his acting in is Captain Corelli's Mandolin and I only watched that because of the scenery and I loved the book. I don't even like him to look at; he looks like an iguana but unlike the chameleon, has no talent for acting. If that is the case, then why did I bother going to see the ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Lost in Bangkok (1093 words)

Story The film is about a hit-man/assassin who has travelled to Bangkok for his next four assignments. He normally lives strictly by the rules of having no social life and sharing nothing about himself. He gets people to work for him and if they find out too much, he kills them. In Bangkok, he starts to break his own rules, becoming attracted to a beautiful pharmacist, and the consequences follow. This time I am giving just a very general summary of the story, because to be honest some of the twists it did have I did not catch on to myself, and apart from those, the story really is that simple. If you are not a fan of subtitles, this ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

This is an 18 rated action film starring Nicolas Cage; it runs for 90 minutes and contains some strong language and graphic scenes of violence. Nicolas Cage plays assassin Joe. This film starts by him speaking to the audience telling us that he was taught 4 rules: 1. Don't ask questions. There is no such thing as right and wrong. 2. Don't take an interest in people outside of work. There is no such thing as trust. 3. Erase every trace. Come anonymous and leave nothing behind. 4. Know when to get out. Just thinking about it means it's time. Before you lose your edge, before you become a target. Joe goes to Bangkok to do a ...  Read the complete review
