"Watch Barney watch Barney" is all you would hear in my house all day long, while I try to divert my 2 year olds attention to something else for at least a little while. I don't want to hear this purple dinosaur singing "I love you, you love me..." one more time. She is crazy about Barney so much so that she even talks about him in her sleep!! I have several Barney videos including the latest "All Around the World 2000". Both my 14 month old and 2 and a quarter year old love Barney. His videos always captivate them and, whilst no-one wants their child to be a couch potato, they are actually educational, not only for the children but also for parents. I've picked up on lots of things which I can re-create with my children such as a cardboard tube, with a piece of coloured paper taped over one end.. magically becomes a telescope, which they can look through and see everything in one colour. Ah, come on granny let's watch Barney today. This is always followed by a pleaseeee. I like to tease my grandkids and when I say oh, I don't think so. There has got to be something better on. I have had enough of Barney. That Purple dinosour looking thing with annoying toes and a silly voice. I've tried to bin the videos or hide them but more keep turning up. I checked on the web thinking that my Nephew might have them all but no, there's stacks of them dating back to the 80's and new ones coming out all the time. You have to admire Barneys popularity. What has he got that I haven't got? Whenever we walk past a shop with videos I have panic attacks. I first met barney while on holiday in the usa when my sons were young, as their cousins watched him regulary while we were over there. Well what is barney, for those who don't know Barney is a big purple dinosaur who teaches your children through songs and other great things like games and stories. He also has 2 other dinosaur friends BJ and Baby bop who join in in this wonderful world of imagination. I now have 10 Barney videos at the moment and each one is diferent.
