Starring the creators of South Park, Baseketball is a story about two hopeless guys who invent a sport which completely changes there lives forever. Coop (Trey Parker) and Remer (Matt Stone) play the two unemployed Americans who, to impress there former college friends at a party make up a game that is both basketball and baseball in one.
We see the two play the game on there front drive. It involves one team making shots at the hoop from different parts of the court and someone from the other team has to try and "Psyche-out" them to make them miss the shot. A psyche-out can be anything you want as long as it makes them miss the shot. As word spreads of there game, they set up a local league and the third member of there team, Squeak (Dian Bacher), joins. As the game grows and grows on there front drive they eventually get spotted by a rich businessman who helps them turn the game into a national sport with teams, stadiums, fans and the Denslow Cup.
The businessman dies during a game and this eventually leads to Remer siding with an "evil" businessman to commercialise the sport which Coop is thoroughly against. This leads to a bitter fight between the two which nearly destroys there team. I won't divulge the rest of the film as that will ruin the film for you.
The DVD case has the title in large red and white letters on the front with Coop, Yvette and Remer posing in there kit. There is a picture at the bottom of the stadium and then underneath it says...
"Two guys invented a game... and turned the sports world upside down!"
On the rear there is a short blurb about the director, the film and who stars in it. It is rated 15 due to some of the language, jokes and scenes in it. It runs for 1 hour and 39 minutes and it can be viewed in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
This is a great comedy that shows how two men can change America just from there front driveway. It shows how they see modern sport as being too commercial and they go about changing it for the better. It shows how money can sometimes sidetrack people from the good of the game, but most of the time the game wins over money.
If your after a funny film that you can watch with friends then this is one for you. It can be bought from most shops for around £5 and it will bring you a good 99 minutes of laughter. Some jokes aren't really suitable for children so it's best not watched as a family.
As it can be watched over and over again and still be funny and has some great acting I will give it 5/5 for a not very well known film.

Director: David Zucker
Directed by David Zucker (Naked Gun series), and starring Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park), Baseketball is a hilarious sports comedy for the whole family. Except the kids. And Grandma. Your wife might not like it much either. Come to think of it, this is pretty much a guy movie.
A couple of lifelong slackers, Joe Cooper and Doug Remer (Parker and Stone) invent the game of Baseketball one night to avoid looking stupid at a party they've gatecrashed. Before long the sport goes national and they are sports personalities playing for the Milwaukee Beers.
After the team's owner Ted Denslow (Ernest Borgnine) dies in a hotdog-related accident, control of the team falls to Cooper. Another team owner, Baxter Cain (Robert Vaughn) needs the approval of all the team owners before he can turn Baseketball from its original 'sport of the people' format into yet another money-making machine, but Cooper resists, staying true to the original vision of his late friend and mentor Denslow.
The humour in this movie is often pretty crude and obvious, but in spite of that (or maybe because of it) it still manages to be very watchable. A lot of the gags revolve around Cooper and Remer giving flack to team-mate Squeak Scolari (Dian Bachar) and each other, and there's also a lot of humour derived from the female cast members/obvious eye-candy (Yasmine Bleeth and Jenny McCarthy).
There's quite a lot of recognisable faces in the supporting cast too, as well as a lot of names making cameo appearances as themselves, notably Hollywood biggie Robert Stack.
Overall, if you like South Park/Naked Gun/Airplane type humour, this is for you, and with many retailers selling the DVD at under £5, what's stopping you?
BASEketball is a hilarious movie in which Trey Parker and Matt Stone swap behind the scenes, writing and directing the movie to starring in the movie.
BASEketball is poking fun at American sports, the people who play them, the people who own the teams and the people who are in control of the leagues.
Matt and Trey play to normal guys who are wasting their lives away until they invent the game which changes their lives for ever, that game is BASEketball. Essential a mixture between basketball and base ball. In which by scoring baskets of differing difficulties it allows you to move round the base ball bases and score runs. They take this game from the area they were staying in all the way to the big time. But with the success of the big time comes the opportunity to cash in and become rich and let BASEketball go down the road of many of the other American sports.
But which road do the boys take? can they win the big game? Or will the success be all to much for them to take?
Thius movie is funny, super funny! Matt and Trey Parker will keep you laughing from start to finish without stop. There is always something to make you laugh. From the pysche outs the boys create to put their opponents off to the jokes they share as friends it will always make you laugh.
As a comedy film goes this is a 10/10 for me!
baseketball is a classic! i watched it again recently for the first time in years, and it is still brilliant. especially when it only costs a few pounds online from sites like amazon, definately worth getting. there are so many great scenes and lines that are memorable. even my girlfriend who doesnt share most of my humour thought it was great!
basically these two guys, cooper and remer, the inventors of south park invent this ball game thats a cross between basketball and baseball because they are too lazy to run around but are good at shooting hoops. it ends up becoming a local, then nationwide sport, and obviously theres a girl in there that they both argue and fight over, and fall out, only to become friends again, and some bad guy gets involved to trying to make a quick buck. its stupid humour but a very good laugh
This movie stars Matt Stone and Trey Parker in the two leading roles, with Dian Bacharstarring alongside them in the only film I've ever seen him in! Matt and Trey have obviously gone on to bigger and better things now though (Team America, South Park) although this remains in my opinion their best work.
The basic plot of this movie is that sport throughout the world has become almost obsolete, and no one is interested in watching or playing it. The two leading characters come up with a new game, a cross between basketball and baseball while trying to impress girls at a party. The game then takes off in popularity, becoming the 'new big thing'. As you'd expect from the directors of South Park: The Movie, there are some crazy twists, horrific innuendos, and completely outrageous stunts performed in what turns into a laugh a minute rollercoaster where after their managers death the two friends do everything they can to try and keep their team out of the hands of a money loving capitalist.
This is one of the funniest films I've had the pleasure of watching, and I would suggest if you haven't seen it yet, you go and get a copy straight away!
Baseketball is a film from the creators of South Park Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Joe Cooper (Trey Parker) and Doug Remer (Matt Stone) attend a party with all the people in their high school year. Whilst there they are challenged to a game of two on two Basketball and bet $50 on the outcome. When they see that the two guys they are up against are great plays they suggest a new game. Quickly they come up Basketball played using Baseball rules. The next day they play the game some more getting used to and before long a neighbourhood league is set up. Ted Denslow a billionaire then offers to turn the game into a national league and Joe and Doug become sports superstars. However when Joe becomes the owner of his team the other owners try to force through changes to make more money and they must win the league title to keep hold of their team and stop these plans from going through and ruining the sport.
The humour in this film is exactly the same as the style you will find in South Park. If you are a fan of South Park then you will love this film however if you really don't like South Park you are not likely to enjoy this film.
The script is very well put together and the whole film runs smoothly. The input of Stone and Parker on the script is what really makes this film work.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker are undoubtedly best known for their fantastic animated TV show South Park, and perhaps after that their hilarious 2005 puppet romp Team America. In 1998, however, they tried their hand at a live action comedy, in Baseketball.
Stone and Parker play two down and outers who come up with the idea to combine basketball and baseball into a new sport, wherby there's still the baseball diamond, but to score points, you have to shoot the ball from the diamond into a basket. Furthermore, the defensive team are allowed to attempt to "psyche out" the player shooting, and be as crude and unsavoury as they like in the process. This is further compounded by the arrival of Yasmine Bleeth's character, a worker for a company very much alike the Make a Wish Foundation, meaning, of course, there's going to plenty of dark humour about dying kids. It is Stone and Parker, after all.
Although it doesn't always hit its mark, and is incredibly silly, there's some genuinely amusing mockery of sports, and how commercialised they've become. An incredibly silly comedy, but one that benefits from the matching of Naked Gun genius David Zucker with South Park's Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Gags are hit-and-miss, but when they hit, they hit hard.
"Baseketball" is a film starring the two creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and is directed by Jerry Zucker, who also directed the spoof classic "Naked Gun".
It's about two lifelong friends, Joe Cooper (Trey Parker) and Doug Remer (Matt Stone) who one day invent the game Baseketball, which is playing basketball using the rules of baseball. The game becomes a big success and with the help of billionaire Ted Denslow (Ernest Borgnine) they set up the Professional Baseketball League which, unlike other american sports, has rules that everyone is paid the same and teams aren't allowed to change cities. But one person wants to change that, Baxter Cain (Robert Vaughn). Can Joe and Doug's team, the Milwaukee Beers, win the Denslow cup and save the day?
This film's humour is very much in the style of South Park, so it's safe to say that if you don't like South Park, you probably won't enjoy this. It has the same crude vulgar humour, with penis jokes aplenty. As I like South Park, I love this film, it's completely goofy and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a film that you can just relax with know you're in for a good time. It seems like it was a riot making this film.
As with the "Naked Gun" films, each scene is packed full of hilarity, some are obvious, but some are more subtle and you need to keep an eye out to spot them. Matt and Trey do a great job, lampooning american sports in general and are very inventive with their "Psyche outs", in which you try to put the opposing player off scoring. A lot of them are in bad taste, so you won't know whether to laugh or be offended.
This is an essential purchase for anyone who likes South Park, and can be bought for next to nothing as it's been out for a while. Highly recommended!
This is an hilarious film from the creators of south park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker. So if you loved south park your guaranteed to love this as it is relatively the same humor. This film is not a well known one but everyone who has seen it says they enjoyed it thoroughly. So Basically it's about two nobodies named Coop and Doug ( Trey Parker and Matt Stone) who always dreamed about being big sports heroes and when they get corned at a party to play a game witch they will obviously loose at, they deiced to invent a game on the spot so they don't get showed up in front of the girls. The game they claim is from the "hood". Anyway the game they create is a cross between Baseball and Basketball, hence the name Baseketball. Before they know it they wind up playing in the "national Baseketball league" where they play for they top team, "the beers" My favourite bits in the film have to be the "psyche outs" this is where you can do anything you want, and I mean anything, to stop the other person from scoring. Anyway this is an hilarious film and one of my all time greats so I would definetley recommend seeing it. You can buy this on video very cheaply for around £5. But you can only get in region 1 on DVD (america) so your DVD player has to be multi-region to view it. Anyway on DVD it is around £16.99
well what can i say, Trey Parker and Matt Stone(no i will not talk about south park), Doug Remer and Joe Cooper make up a game at a house party to win $50 form two jocks and to impress girls. but it became so much more than that, it first catches on with squeak(little bitch)and then with a few local people and they have a Baseketball league just i there neighbour hood until Ted Deslow a billionaire buys the sport and become national wide. At the begining the rules were that anyone can play, everyone gets payed the same and there was no large sopponsership. Until Ted Denslow dies and give the team to Cooper, but the rest of the team (the Beers) are pleased so Cooper gives them all part of the team. So Remer Then is tempted to sell out in order to get money and he does. Then large amounts of money gets involed and the fame goes to his head. then Cooper has to fix all the mess (cheep labour, in Pakistan). The Beers get to the final of the Denslow cup and you can watch it to find out hat happens. Throughout the film there are some hi-larious scenes including a dildo among others will have you laughing. My personal favourite Scense are the Psyche-outs, (youncan do anything to make your opponent to make him his his shot.
BASEketball was created genius filmmakers Matt Stone and Trey Parker. It is relativity unheard of film which dint attract many in the box office but has captured the attention on the small screen. The film revolves around Joe cooper and squeak scoalrie and Doug Reemer. They invent a game part baseball and part basketball at a party. It then grows to become a successful national sport. On the way to stardom the guys have fun and create a stir. It is well worth a buy and will give you hours of enjoyment.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the creaters of south park, need I say anymore. However, in 1998 they wrote and starred in a film called BASEketball (which for some reason wasn't released at the cinema in England) which is, without doubt the funniest thing your ever gonna see. It is based around 3 guys Coop, Reemer and the Squeak. Coop and Reemer develope a new game based around the rules of Basketball and Baseball, hense the name BASEketball. Anyway, the game they invent gets massive and along with Ted Denslow, a multi-millionairre, they create the national BASEketball League. However when Denslow dies, the owner of a rival team tries to destroy th NBL by allowing product endorsements and letting players swap teams, anyway I won't spoil it for you by telling you what happens. The phyke out's that coop and reemer do to put of the opposition make this film hilerious. Oh and did I mention, it's got Jenny McCarthy in it! If you want a laugh, this is definatly the film to see.
BASEketball was written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone who also play the main characters in the film. You maybe thinking where you've heard their names before. They are the creators of South Park, the hilarious american comedy. BASEketball shows that Parker and Stone can do much more than write cartoons. It is a very funny film in which they invent a game called Baseketball. It is a cross between baseball and basketball, and they invented it so they can win at it. The newly-found sport takes off and soon everyones playing it countrywide. But will they sell out to make more money, or keep the game how it should be? It is a very simple film to understand, and is one of the funniest films i've ever seen. The jokes keep on coming and even if you don't like South Park that gives you no reason to not like this as it's completly different. It is much under-rated and if you haven't seen it yet i suggest you rent it NOW!
This is a film that everyone who has ever watched South Park MUST watch. Written by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the same guys who wrote South Park, this film offers a little insight into the minds of these two modern comic geniuses. The plot is pretty basic - two bummed-out losers invent a game which grows to become the new craze, a little love interest, money, and morality all combine to make this classic. Featuring a rare on-screen appearance from Parker and Stone, with Yasmine Bleeth and Jenny McCarthy, and a cameo appearance by Victoria Silvstedt ('Is that Victoria Silvstedt, Playmate of the Year?') the cast wouldn't necessaryily attract the attentions of most hardened cinemaphiles, but the comic quality of the fim far outweighs the quality of the cast to produce a superbly funny film. By making this film, Stone and Parker allowed themselves pretty much free range to write whatever they could get away with; jokes ranging from homosexuality to prison mockery appear commonly and almost at random. Jenny McCarthy's role as the inept girlfriend and assist to one of the team owners allows a wide range of sexual gags to be made to great effect, and I can honestly say that I haven't seen visual comedy of this calibre since Laurel + Hardy last picked up a ladder. Overall, I'd recommend this film to anyone; although it is clear that a male viewpoint would certainly make this film more appreciable. Go and BUY It NOW...
This hilarious movie is made Matt Stone and Trey Park who are the makers of South Park. I must say that this is one of the best comedies I've seen ever. Who here can say that they didn't laugh once throughout the whole movie?? It is based around a games called BASEketball which the two main characters of the movie make. They make it when they are challenged to a basketball match by two tough competitors and twist the rules around to make them win. Then the game turns into the best game on the planet and while the inventors enjoy the money involved they start to forget the reason they invented the game in the first place, which is to have FUN!! Hilarious antics included in the game are Psyke Out where the opponent of the batter has to put them off so they miss the ball. There a lot of very funny psyke outs throughout the movie including "got milk?"!! This a definite must see for all Comedy fans! Go BASEketball!!!
From the creators of the Naked Gun films, and starring the creators of the South Park series, comes a spoof of sports and business and anything else that can draw a hearty laugh. Two best friends (Trey Parker and Matt Stone) create "baseketball"--a sport that combines baseball and basketball--and when their silly idea catches on, they are thrust in the spotlight and become media darlings, much to their chagrin.
