Hurrah! At last a DVD that I can recommend, this one has extras and everything folks, so prepare yourself for a few hours serious viewing. I am particularly referring to the Anniversary Special Edition here... please note the US version of this - with an ice pick pen - is the one pictured here... sadly we in the UK don't get a toy! Certificate: 18 Director: Paul Verhoeven Writer: Joe Eszterhas Stars: Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone, George Dzunda, Jeanne Tripplehorn Runtime: 128 minutes Made: USA 1992 Rating: Three-and-a-half (or four if, unlike me, you don't think Verhoeven overdoes the sex thang) Paul Verhoeven is ... Basic Instinct is an erotic thriller released way back in 1992. The film received a mixed reception upon release, some said it was too farfetched but some thought it was a clever thriller with brilliant twists & turns, I have to admit I agree with the latter. The film was made on an estimated budget of $49,000,000. It runs for approximately 129 minutes. The film was one of the highest grossing films of 1992 grossing a an estimated $353 million worldwide. The film is rated 18 as it contains nudity, violence & strong language. Basic Instinct is directed by Paul Verhoeven, he's well known for directing cult hit Robocop, Total Recall starring Arnold ... BASIC CINEMA EFFECTS Basic Instincts is Directed by Dutch film maker Paul Verhoeven, I am going to be impartial about this film, as I feel neither pro nor against this film, just let me discuss some bubbling thoughts this movie evokes in the people who view it. A thoroughly made visual will leave a permanent impact on the mind, I don’t know this film had beneficial effect or it has left a dark destructive virus lying dormant waiting for its trigger to start its effect. I enjoyed this film, but there is a certain unease in myself about the type of enjoyment I felt with it, there is guilt in me which says do you enjoy these type of visuals, I use ... Now, this film is quite difficult to have an opinion on. On the one hand it’s a good thriller with a good twisting plot, but on the other hand, it’s a rubbish, sleazy porn film. The story follows Michael Douglas as your usual cop who’s got loads of problems, investigating a murder. The prime suspect is Sharon Stone, who generally plays with his head a lot. What follows is Douglas falling for Stone and their affair. With many twists and turns this film could’ve been an excellent thriller. Unfortunately they’ve gone for the titillation side and turned this film into pure sleaze. Fine some people might pant for that kind of thing ... Read the complete review

I don't care what anyone says -- this movie is totally awesome! It's not just because of all the sex though, even though the sex makes it even better! Sharon is at the top of her game -- she is a great actress and I totally love her! Basic Instinct is full of mystery and suspense, and it's impossible to get bored at any point. Also, nobody plays burned out slime-balls as good as Michael Douglas, and his sex scenes with Sharon are so good and realistic. If you haven't already, you've GOT to see this movie! ...
