Advantages: some good gore and not a bad story

Disadvantages: quite a bit

This is director Frank Henenlotter's baby about a guy and his deformed brother. When Duane was born his twin, deformed brother Belial was attached to his side. For years, they coexisted quite happily. Belial couldn't talk but they could communicate through thoughts. They were happy together until the decision was made to have the monster on his side removed surgically.

Years later, Duane is on his own and everywhere he goes he carries a large basket. Guess who's in the basket? Anyone who accidently makes the mistake of checking out whats in the basket gets Belial's wrath and suffers a bloody death.

Now, Duane and Belial are hunting down all of the surgens who were responsible for their dis-attachment. When their found, Duane leaves the basket around and let's him take care of the killing.

During the movie, Duane finds that he cannot lead a normal life while Belial is around. The monser gets insanely jealous when anyone implies interest in him. This leads to a deadly fallout between the two of them.

This film was an interesting attempt at making a horror film. I can't believe Henenlotter got away with making two sequels because this one is cheesy and the others get worse as they go. I'd recommend checking this one out once but stay away from the lame sequels and stay away from large, padlocked baskets.
