Advantages: Excellent effects
Disadvantages: Not worth the original hype back when it came out
Cast listing: Jack Nicholson .... The Joker/Jack Napier Michael Keaton .... Batman/Bruce Wayne Kim Basinger .... Vicki Vale Robert Wuhl .... Alexander Knox Pat Hingle .... Police Commissioner Gordon Billy Dee Williams .... Harvey Dent, Gotham District Attorney Michael Gough .... Alfred Pennyworth Jack Palance .... Boss Carl Grissom Jerry Hall .... Alicia Tracey Walter .... Bob the Goon Lee Wallace .... Mayor Borg William Hootkins .... Lt. Eckhardt Richard Strange .... Goon Carl Chase .... Goon Mac McDonald (I) .... Goon Batman is a nice dark film based on the Batman cartoon world. It si the first film in a series, and the first major criminal that Batman has to deal with is the Joker - a homicidal clown. It turns out that the Joker killed Batmans parents, which caused him to become the crime fighter that he is. The plot is fairly normal, but the acting and effects are really good, especially when you consider when this fuilm was made. The city of Gotham looks really bleak, just like it should do. Everything just fits together really well in Batman, and it is well worth atching. I don`t know if you rememebr the hype when it first came out, with posters being ripped off walls as soon as they were put up. It`s not good enough to justify that kind of hype, but it`s still a good film.
