Advantages: Ledger

Disadvantages: Batman is too high tech!

Like some other reviewers have said... I watched this film after reading about Heath Ledgers death thinking "oh here we go, someone dies so we all make out they are better than they were". I must say after watching this film I was speechless.

You can read the general overview of the film on most websites and in other reviews so I will not waste time going over it again.

Ledger's performance as The Joker is spellbinding. Considering what a stunner he was in real life in this role he is quite painful to look at and genuinely gave me the creeps. He shows a side of him that we have never seen, and personally that I did not think he was capable of. He gives the character real depth and personally when I had finished watching the film I was thinking more about the story behind "The Joker" than anything else. Why was he the way he was etc - would have made a fantastic movie if Ledger were still around to play it.

Bale's performance was... interesting. Considering he is a fantastic actor I think this role does him no justice. You cannot see his expressions due to the masks nor hear the conviction and passion in his voice. There is a device that they seemed to use (like a disguiser?) which makes him quite difficult to understand and almost robotic. Very gravelly and unrealistic. I thought it ruined the movie.

Maggie Gyllenhaal who plays Rachel Dawes really irritated me. I find it extremely irritating when more than one actress plays the same role and it wasn't until about halfway into the film that I actually realised she was Rachel Dawes, I thought she was a new love interest! I found her boring, wooden and totally average. A terrible casting choice!

Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent was brilliant and it was great to see how the character was changing throughout the film. Didn't like his ending though... could have done better or carried him on as a Villian for another film.

Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were both excellent, as they always are.

I thought the graphics and special effects in the film were awesome but am disliking the way they are making Batman too 'high tech'. At one point he has sonar/xray type vision through his eye holes in his mask. I mean come on people! This is meant to be a one man trying to make a difference not a robot!

Summary: Best part about it is Ledger I am afraid. Apart from him, its pretty average.
