Advantages: Amazing acting, terrifying, great plot

Disadvantages: Not everyones cup of tea

Originally my brother told me about this film back in 2004 and it sounded very interesting, but then I forgot all about it as it is not the type of film that is exactly gonna be in newspapers or have won any oscars. Then thankfully my friend gave it to me(at that time I had no idea it was the same film my brother had watched) and the rest is history. I was mesmerised, horrifed, amazed from start to finish by this film. I went through like a million emotions and came out the other side feeling changed, even though it was just a film. I won't mention anything about the cast as I had never heard of them before and I am sure the people who read this review will understand that it is of no signifance.

The Plot is brilliant and terrifying. It consists of a class of students being drugged and put on an island. On the island they are told they have two days to kill eachother off until there is one survivor and if there is more than 1 survivor, the bracelets attached to everyone will blow up, hence killing everyone. The deaths are shocking and very terrifying. What adds to the terror is that it is portrayed realistically, I could believe this had happened to a class of students and they were just a random class. The fact that they use children is scary and no kid should be put through this, actually no one full stop should be put through this. There are many shocking scenes in this and the lighthouse scene remains one of my top three most shocking scenes of all time.

If you are looking for a gore fest or want to be terrified then go see Battle Royale. It tackles issues of trust and when the situation is as desperate as death that some friends will hold the trust whilst trust between others will break through the desperation. I am sure everyone who watches will think of themselves at school and their old class and what would have happened if their class had been put on this brutal island. A must see for all film fans.
