Does anyone else have a film which they watched when they were very young which stuck with them throughout adulthood. Well mine is this film Beaches, I think I was way too young to watch the film at the time, but I fell in love with it, it had me in tears and I loved every thing about it and still to this day, maybe 10 years later, I still adore this film as much as I did then. ------------ The Plot ------------- The film follows two young girls CC Bloom and Hilary Whitney, both from different sides of the spectrum, Hilary is from a rich family and CC is an out of work actress who has to deal with her mother who is annoying. The girls ... Read the complete review

This film is great. It is all about the friendship of two female best friends, who've known each other since they were young but have now broken off. They meet again, and go away from each other again many times, and the film has many twists and turns and has a very, very sad ending which you will be in tears at! This film is regularly repeated on ITV and is available to rent or buy on video very cheaply as it's quite old. ... Read the complete review

I first saw beaches when it came out on video and i think i have worn by tape out watching it since. It is a real weepy and if i need to have a good cry I always watch this film. It moves me every time at exactly the same place and although i know whats coming and when it always gets me. It also a film that really makes you think about life and your own life and what you make of it. I would give this a definite thumbs up, not only woudl i recommend it to a friend i'd buy a big bucket of popcorn, some icecream and a box of tissues to watch it with them. ... Years after they last met, with a series of penpal letters shared, the vivacious CC Bloom is re-united with her childhood pal Hilary Whitney. Hilary is heiress to a fortune, whilst CC is an overbearing out of work actress whose own mother has had to move to another state to avoid her. An upturn in fortunes come about though, when they meet a handsome producer who falls for Hilary and is able to get CC work. However, this entails a new set of resentments. You see, Hilary wants to be CC with all her outer ego and confidence, while CC wants to be Hilary with her class and beauty. Time and time again they lock horns until a tragedy brings them together and ... Read the complete review

I discovered this film about 10 years ago when my friend introduced me to it. It fast became one of my all time favourites and has stayed there ever since. As such, I am happy to call this a timeless classic. The DVD contains no special features but does offer limited subtitles and has a running time of 125 minutes (approximately). PLOT This is a story of two young girls, CC Bloom (Bette Midler) and Hilary Whitney (Barbara Hershey) who are from very different backgrounds. The meet coincidentally while both on holiday in Atlantic City. The friendship is very prematurely torn apart and they communicate for years through letters without actually meeting. ...
