Advantages: Great story, great acting, you can watch it over and over again.

Disadvantages: If you're at all depressed, stay away - it might just push you over the edge!

I love this film. It's a real weepy, about two best friends who met on the beach as kids, became penpals, lost touch, got back in touch and live happily ever after (or do they...?).

Bette Midler plays CC, an aspiring actress/dancer, who's desperate to get her big break, and her friend is a wealthy professional. They could be from two different planets, which is part of the storyline.

If you're into bruce willis blowing people's brains off, don't bother. But if you liked Fried Green Tomatoes, then this is for you. Good acting, great storyline, full of ups and downs, funnies and weepy bits.

Beaches is best appreciated at a girls night in party, with lots of popcorn and tissues. It's great - one of my favourites of all time, and even though I know the ending, I can still watch it again and again.
