Advantages: Feel Good Factor

I've watched Beaches several times now, and although it has a really sad ending, it actually makes me feel good. It stars Bette Midler as CC, who starts off as a precocious child performer, from (I think) Brooklyn, and Barbara Hershey as the middle class girl she meets on the beach, and forms a lifelong friendship with. The film follows their lives through doomed relationships, jobs, and the birth of Hershey's daughter, until she didscovers she's dying... Ultimately the film ends with her death and Bette Midler taking on her daughter, and while it's certainly sad, I usually feel good after watching it. Recommended.
