I discovered this film about 10 years ago when my friend introduced me to it. It fast became one of my all time favourites and has stayed there ever since. As such, I am happy to call this a timeless classic. The DVD contains no special features but does offer limited subtitles and has a running time of 125 minutes (approximately). ... To say that this film is a bit of a tear-jerker is an understatement. It's a tale of life long friendship, betrayal, jealousy, life and loss and it's impossible but to be caught up in the lives of two friends CC i.e Cecilia ( played by Bette Midler as the adult CC and Mayim Bialik as the young CC ) and Hilary ( played by Barbara Hersey as the ... Does anyone else have a film which they watched when they were very young which stuck with them throughout adulthood. Well mine is this film Beaches, I think I was way too young to watch the film at the time, but I fell in love with it, it had me in tears and I loved every thing about it and still to this day, maybe 10 years later, I still adore ... Beaches starring Bet Midler - My all time favorite film I love it. I have seen this film about 20 times and it still is great every time. A true chick flick about two young girls from different backgrounds becoming true friends and the film follows them as they grow up together and at times apart. True friendship never ends and this is a film that ... Read the complete review

Years after they last met, with a series of penpal letters shared, the vivacious CC Bloom is re-united with her childhood pal Hilary Whitney. Hilary is heiress to a fortune, whilst CC is an overbearing out of work actress whose own mother has had to move to another state to avoid her. An upturn in fortunes come about though, when they meet a ... Read the complete review

This film is my favorite, it is about two girls who met on a beach when they were young, they went through good times and bad times, through broken marriages and careers but they still had each other.
It has Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey in it and it's well worth watching.
It gets very sad towards the end so get your tissue out and get comfy.

WOW what a film Bette Midler truly excels as the egotistical fame driven wannabe singer an actress who meets her match in Barbra Hershey a snobby lawyer who has had everything set out for her and really should follow that route. I love Bette anyway but this film shows her at her best we see her comical, sincere and you also get the ... Read the complete review

This film is great. It is all about the friendship of two female best friends, who've known each other since they were young but have now broken off. They meet again, and go away from each other again many times, and the film has many twists and turns and has a very, very sad ending which you will be in tears at! This film is regularly ... I've watched Beaches several times now, and although it has a really sad ending, it actually makes me feel good. It stars Bette Midler as CC, who starts off as a precocious child performer, from (I think) Brooklyn, and Barbara Hershey as the middle class girl she meets on the beach, and forms a lifelong friendship with. The film follows ... Read the complete review

I love this film. It's a real weepy, about two best friends who met on the beach as kids, became penpals, lost touch, got back in touch and live happily ever after (or do they...?).
