== A BEAUTIFUL MIND == Released in 2001 and starring Russell Crowe. This film falls into the genre Biography/Drama, and is loosely based on the biography of mathematician John Forbes Nash, written by Sylvia Nasar. Directed by Ron Howard, and for which he received an Academy award for Best film of 2001. The film chronicles the life of highly regarded mathematician John Forbes Nash Jr, who throughout his life suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. They say that between sanity and madness, lies a very fine line, and the main protagonist shows us with great clarity just how fine a line this can be. Genius in one form or another can tip ...  Read the complete review

Please do not read if you want to watch this film without knowing what happens - this review has spoilers! My explanation for this is that this is a true story - so well known in many circles anyway - & also it is impossible to really discuss the depth of this film without knowing what happens in it. I have to admit I had not heard anything about this film when I first saw it & so had no idea what to expect. I was amazed with what I saw & would certainly agree that part of my experience of this film was so good because I did not know the story. The trouble is, no matter how I try to work it out, I simply cannot find a way to talk about this film without ...  Read the complete review

My Reason For Purchasing A Beautiful Mind DVD. *************************************** I wrote this review a year or so ago for another review site which has since closed. I thought I would upload it here as A Beautiful Mind is one of my favourite Drama films ever and I just wanted to recommend it and give some opinions on it. There is quite a few reviews already about it, but I just wanted to give my two cents worth also. A Beautiful mind is one of my favourite Russell Crowe Movies. I actually like this better than the movie Gladiator. Well I watched this film a few years ago at the Movie house and I enjoyed it so much, that I bought it on DVD when ...  Read the complete review

John Nash is a brilliant mathematician, but has great difficulty in building relationships with other people. Luckily his room-mate at University befriends him and ensures that John's University life is happy outside of studying. On graduation, John lands an excellent job as a code-breaker, and manages to snare a beautiful young wife called Alicia, a former student. Then his life comes crashing down around him one day when he is committed to a mental asylum, his doctor claiming that much of his life, including his relationship with his former room-mate, is fabricated and part of the delusions that accompany schizophrenia. Can John overcome his illness and continue with ...  Read the complete review

I must admit I had never heard of John Nash before I went to see "A Beautiful Mind". However, the movie was generating tremendous review everywhere and I was curious to see what the fuss was about. This truly is a story of Nash's life as we pick it up in 1947, as he is student at Princeton. The early Nash is introverted but supremely confident in his own ability especially his mental capacity. He remarks at the beginning of the movie that he doesn't like people much and that people don't much like him. This is the overwhelming impression of the opening hour of the movie. Nash does take up with a small group of students but has little ...  Read the complete review
