Advantages: Excellent Storyline
Disadvantages: None
What a strange film this is, Spike Jonze is a god, after directing music videos for a long time (such as the fantasic Sabotage by The Beastie Boys) and then starring in one of the best movies of last year Three Kings he goes on to direct this epic picture. John Cusack plays Craig Schwartz a puppeteer who is not to sucessful, so he decides to take on an office job has a filing clerk at LesterCorp which is based on the 7th and a half floor of an office building (built so dwarfs could work in this office and feel the right height). While working at Lestercorp he drops a file behind the cabinet, when he pulls the cabinet out he finds a door. He enters the door and ends up in the mind of John Malkovich for 15 minutes before he is dumped at the New Jersey turnpike (New Jersey - the home of Jay and Silent Bob). So know him, his office workmate Maxine (Keener) and his wife (an unrecoginsable Diaz) set up a business where they charge people $200 to go into John Malkovichs brain. I wont go into any more detail just go and see the movie for yourself. The best bit is when John Malkovich goes inside his own head - Wow. I also love the part with the news reports about John Malkovich the puppeteer. I own the region one DVD of this film and its an excellent special edition, the extras it has are trailer, TV spots, 7 1/2 floor orientation, American Arts & Culture Presents...John Horatio Malkovich, Dance of dispair and disillusinment, A page with nothing on it (which is so),An Intimate potrait of the art of puppeteering, an Interview with Spike Jonze, An Intimate potrait of the art of back seat driving, Cast & Crew Bios and photo album. PS in the original script it was not Charlie Sheen who was Makovichs best friend but Kevin Bacon.
