It's such an obvious idea that I'm surprised no one's done it before. After all, what are the two things that men are supposed to talk about above all others? Football and women. Bringing the two together is such a sure-fire hit it's barely worth mentioning, plus you don't even alienate the chick-flick market. A football-related film that anyone can enjoy in a World Cup year. I suspect the brains behind this film are going to be receiving generous offers for their services. Much as Billy Elliot did a couple of years ago, Bend it Like Beckham tells the story of a teenager with an innate talent they are driven to pursue despite the misgivings ... Read the complete review

Football as a scripted visual concept doesn’t work. With the exception of Escape to Victory (which itself wasn’t without flaws – Sly Stallone in goal and Southend United’s Kevin O’Callaghan in midfield for starters), there hasn’t yet been a true TV programme or big screen outing that manages to capture the choreography of 11-versus-11 without coming across as stilted. Gregory’s Girl, Jossie’s Giants, Renford Rejects, Playing the Field, When Saturday Comes, Dream Team…er…One Fine Day (when George Clooney’s darling little boy celebrates after wellying the ball out of play – is he after a trial with ... Who wants to cook Aloo Gobi when you can bend a ball like Beckham? Bend it Like Beckham is a 2002 British comedy. I think, to me, it's one of those films that when they were making it they probably didn't realise how successful or liked it would actually turn out to be. It stars, at that point in time fairly unknown actors who have gone on to have amazingly successful careers, Keira Knightley who is now, according to an article I read, the second highest paid actress in Hollywood, Parminer Nagra who has found fame in ER and Jonathan Rhys Meyers who has stared in The Tudors and is a model. The Beckham in question is of course David Beckham and bend ... Read the complete review

Bend It Like Beckham is a 2003 British film, directed by Gurinder Chadha (famous for other hit British films like Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Bride and Prejudice) and capitalizes on Brand Beckham and his fantastic ability to score from free kicks by bending (curving) the ball. *Synopsis* 18 year old Jess Bharma (Parminder Nagra) is young, free, single and has her whole life ahead of her. But most of all she loves football. Her favourite player (as the title suggests) is David Beckham and dreams of one day playing professionally alongside him. The problem is however Jess's parents want her to become what every Indian woman's parents expect them ... Read the complete review

Bend it like Beckham is a film that really took me by supprise in a positive way and was muc better than I thought it would be. Bend it like Beckham is a British film that was originally released in 2002. It is a British Film and stars Keira Knightly and Parminder Nagra who really are excellent in the film and make it what it is. The title of the film is of course based on the famous football player David Beckham who is renound for his abilities with the ball. I would really recommend this as a family film and also for any football fans because it is overall very well produced. The film is about a football obssessed girl, Jess who is just 18 and has ...
