Bend It Like Beckham is the story of a teenage sikh girl who was born in Britain. Having a very traditional mother and father who pressurise her into becoming a solicitor, Jasminder (Parminder Nagra) rarely has the chance to do what is her dream; play football.

Characters:
Jess/Jasminder - Played by Parminder Nagra, she is the main character and is a British Asian who is unusually good at football.
Jules - Played by Keira Knightley, a footballer from a local team who befriends jess.
Mr Bhamra - Played by Anupam Kher, Jess's strict father.
Mrs Bhamra - Played by Shaheen Khan, Jess's typical indian mother who is definitely the funniest character int he film.
Jules' Dad - Played by Frank Harper, supports his daughter's dreams.
Jules' Mum - Played by Juliet Stevenson, wants her daughter to stop being a tomboy.
Pinky - Played by Archie Punjabi, Jess's sister.
Joe - Played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the football coach who wins the hearts of both Jess and Jules.

Plot:
Jess is a normal sikh girl who has typical indian parents. They want her to become a solicitor whislt she dreams of playing football.
One day she is spotted playing football in the park by Jules, a football from local team Hounslow Harriers who takes her for a trial.
Jess impresses Joe and tells her psrents she has a job whilst secretly going to practise.
When out with Jules, she is mistaken for being with a boy by an indian fmaily whose son is getting married to her sister Pinky. This causes her sister's marriage to break.
She then sneaks off to Germany but finds her family waiting for her when she gets back.
Whilst battling her feelings for coach Joe and wanting to fulfill her dreams, she is caught in a web of love, humour and tradition.

East meets West in this brilliant romcom. A story of an english girl with indian parents, viewers will crack their ribs whilst watching this comedy.

Summary: Sometimes to fulfill your dreams....you have to bend the rules. ;)

Lovely little English/Indian movie. What I lie about the directors work is she lets us giggle at Indian culture, which is refreshiuing these days with the way Muslims dont let any of that.

Nice one!
