**BRIEF PLOT**

Axel Foley is detective from the tough streets of Detroit who has a terrible habit of ignoring orders and doing things his own way...constantly upsetting his boss, Inspector Todd, played by (Gilbert Hill)...

But when Mikey Tandino, (played by James Russo) an old friend of Axels, turns up at his apartment and is promptly assassinated by Zack, (played by Jonathan Banks) Axel takes the law into his own hands, heading off to Beverly Hills to investigate...

His investigations lead him to art dealer Victor Maitland, (played by Steven Berkoff) who just happens to be one of Beverly Hills most respected business men, leaving Axel in a bit of a predicament with the local police force, especially sergeant John Taggert, (played by John Ashton), with his slightly dozy partner Detective Billy Rosewood, (played by Judge Reinhold) and their Lieutenant, Andrew Bogomil, (played by Ronny Cox)...

With Rosewood and Taggert now watching Foley it is not long before the two are inadvertently helping with Foleys investigation.... Even when Police chief Hubbard, (played by Stephen Elliot) gives the order for Foley to leave Beverly Hill... only for Foley to ignore orders yet again, continuing his pursuit for the culprits...

As Foley digs deeper into Maitlands life he starts to uncover the truth benind the respectable mans life... placing himself, Rosewood and Taggert in danger....

**IN CONCLUSION**

A fine movie with a fast paced script, some good acting and a slither of romance...
Eddie Murphy does his cheeky smile at every opportunity to establish the character of Axel Foley, the renegade cop with a lust for action.

The story is your standard "out of control cop seeks revenge for the death of his brother/lover/friend" type movie but that doesn't spoil the fact that this one is well worth watching for the comical genius of Murphy and the weird sense of humour coming from Rosewood, as the Sensible cop with a hidden desire for action.

Murphy seems to be in his element as the cheeky chappie with a gun and a badge... then combining him with the unique characteristics of Rosewood and Taggert you know your in for a bit of a treat...
Murphy's great use with a bunch of bananas, (supplied by comedian Damon Wayans as a rather camp waiter) to disable a police car is pure genius...

The action and stunts are not too over the top, except for a few scenes involving people being thrown through glass windows without a scratch appearing, but this is standard for any of these types of films so you expect these sort of scenes...

The few fighting scenes are well choreographed and the car chases are comically good...

Would I recommend this....?

Yes I would... without a doubt... (but only if you like Eddie Murphy's style)

Even if you don't really like these action/thrills/comedy type movies..
The fast talking Eddie Murphy really gives his all for this and the outcome is a well made and very watchable film....

It does have everything a good movie needs... the thrills, the action, the car chase, the fighting and the little bit of romance, pleasing all who watch it.

And don't forget the theme tune... it will be drumming through your mind for ever... and probably as a tacky ring tone on many peoples mobile phones...

If you're interested in watching this then grab yourself a copy from www.amazon.co.uk for less than £4.00 so you can't go wrong...

Summary: Beverly hills is not the place to be... if you're a villian

I like Eddie Murphy's style. He always makes my brother laugh out loud and then I can't stop laughing. Childish I know! Lovely review.
