Advantages: MURPHY AS AXEL FOLEY
Disadvantages: a little too much swearing
Tony Scott directs Beverly Hills Cop II, the sequel to the popular action movie.
When a gang of international munitions smugglers named the 'Alphabet gang' start comitting crimes in Southern California, Axel Foley played by Eddie Murphy returns to help his former sidekicks Billy Rosewood played by Judge Reinhold and John Tagget played by John Ashton when their senior officer gets struck down.
They have to come up against dodgy mayors and a crooked government to try and prevent these crimes plus a leggy blonde played by Brigette Neilsen.
With gun shots, car chasers and lots of explosions can they suceed in their mission.
Murphy is once more perfect as Axel Foley with his comedy timing spot on and his action sequences thrilling. The chemistry is still great with Ashton and Reinhold that gives the movie a realism. Brigette Neilsen is also very good in her bad woman role.
The comedy is excellent, particularly Foley living in a home that is not his and the consequences for that. The action is still spectacular with the use of special effects meaning their is so many chances to use explosions and gun fire.
The settings are once more beautiful to look at and really feel like an extra actor in the movie. The dialogue is superb although there is alot of swearing. The plot is excellent and the fast pace nature of the film means it never gets boring. The soundtrack is also awesome with the famous music from the movie also playing which picks you up and gets you right in the movie.
With a 15 viewing certificate, lasting 99 minutes and avaliable from AMAZON at just £3.58 this is a movie to see especially if you saw the original.
Summary: Foley rocks in Beverly Hills!
